Six o'clock already
I was just in the middle of a dream
I was kissin' Valentino
By a crystal blue Italian stream
But I can't be late
'Cause then I guess I just won't get paid
These are the days
When you wish your bed was already made

It's just another manic Monday
I wish it was Sunday
'Cause that's my fun day
My I don't have to run day
It's just another manic Monday

Have to catch an early train
Got to be to work by nine
And if I had an aeroplane
I still couldn't make it on time
'Cause it takes me so long
Just to figure out what I'm gonna wear
Blame it on the train
But the boss is already there

It's just another manic Monday
I wish it was Sunday
'Cause that's my fun day
My I don't have to run day
It's just another manic Monday

All of my nights
Why did my lover have to pick last night
To get down
(Last night, last night)
Doesn't it matter
That I have to feed the both of us
Employment's down
He tells me in his bedroom voice
C'mon honey, let's go make some noise
Time it goes so fast
(When you're having fun)

It's just another manic Monday
I wish it was Sunday
'Cause that's my fun day
My I don't have to run day
It's just another manic Monday
I wish it was Sunday
'Cause that's my fun day
It's just another manic Monday

Prince wrote this under the name "Christopher." He gave it to The Bangles because he liked the band. This prompted rumors that lead singer Susanna Hoffs was having an affair with Prince. Prince's "Kiss" was #1 when this was #2 in the US

Great song, Manic Monday speaks to everyone. When you've had a great weekend that's gone as quickly as it came. Dealing with the stress of the new week and trying to get to work on time. It seems like the weekend's been partied away, but I think its the only way we can truly enjoy our lives, seizing every moment. You can't work for 40 years and then decide to have fun and be spontaneous. You've got to find a way to fit it all together :) Its a good upbeat tune. Well done to The Bangles!

Holds special memories Because of time difference I used to wake up earlier one hour- He is in north I am in south He was always there I got up. He was an early riser so I was always late. He was the boss what can I say. Miss him like hell I dedicated this song to him because he is Italian and there’s Valentino in the lyrics ( amongst other things) Don’t even know if he remembers me anymore but eventually my health started failing because I had so much to do during the day . I am a physically frail person . Love can make you do things He loved too in his own way.

I am curious about the cryptic line, "doesn't it matter that I have to feed the both of us. employment's down" song writers have always had a way of including a serious barb in an otherwise upbeat, seemingly lighthearted song. don't get me wrong; I love the song and always have. Just curious.
