Weew! I like this, yeah this definitely gives me that Biggie feel, you know
I be like I love it when you call me, na I cant do that Puff will kill me if I do that
I have to find another way to pay homage, oh I got it keep banging
To all the ladies in the place bless with style and grace
Allow me to place my swag In place
They call me Betta cause nobody does it better raise the steaks
Spit that game A-1 And just met her
Caught her at the bar with a mob of her best friends
Getting out the car with a mob of my best friends
Lets all be friends party for the weekend
Take the lacrosse or just cruise in the bm
West side highway Bonny and Clyde way
She say she a church girl let me call Kanye
Lets take a trip couple sips of that cognac
She says she don't usually, well we aint buying that
Im eyeing that lady chillin by the red Mercedes
She winked her left eye I told shorty bye
Im on to the next one the grass a little greener yeah she was nice
But her walk a Little meaner
I couldn't stay still if I wanted to son
I bag one tenderoni then I trade her for one
I couldn't stay still if I wanted to son
I get board real quick so I'm never at one
I couldn't stay still if I wanted to son
There's too many out there to be in love with one
I guess this story will never come to an end
I see her friend, then Im at again
Its s like I got a little sickness dropping shorties with the quickness
I get to attached and Im allergic to that
I told Tuesday she could meet me at the club
She came to the crib confessing her dying love
I told Wednesday I pick her up after work, now she's a player herself
I seen her smootching with Curt
Thursday come around and I could never take her serious
Cause eery other week she's having problems with her period
Friday is my day to chill with the team, the weekend came thru and ruin the whole day
Why is it hard for you to stay in your place
I thought we were good chillin once a week
Here's a glass of wine lets rendevou at 9
As soon as she walked away I dipped with Monday
I guess this cycle will never come to an end Im after her
Then Im after her friend yeah Im at it again
I couldn't stay still if I wanted to son
I bag one tenderoni then I trade her for one
I couldn't stay still if I wanted to son
I get board real quick so I'm never at one
I couldn't stay still if I wanted to son
There's too many out there to be in love with one
I guess this story will never come to an end
I see her friend, then Im at again

This song was a tune that I'd been playing over and over again at home. Invariably, every time I picked up the guitar, I'd end up playing this song. The lyrics came much later, after the band had worked up the song and tried it on, so to speak. The one line, 'time gets around in my head - I don't want to feel it' was the only thing I had to work with for quite a while. In fact, this was one of those songs where the lyrics were completed just minutes before the recording. Since I recently turned the corner at 30, I decided to make this an updated version of "Time Again," a song I had written about growing old at the age of 25. It's not an obsession with age, but more of a fascination with time and perspective - and getting bald and fatter.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
