Hold onto love that is what I do now that I've found you
And from above everything's stinking, they're not around you

And in the night, I could be helpless
I could be lonely, sleeping without you
And in the day, everything's complex
There's nothing simple when I'm not around you

But I'll miss you when you're gone
That is what I do, hey, baby
And it's going to carry on
That is what I do, hey, baby

Hold onto my hands, I feel I'm sinking, sinking without you
And to my mind, everything's stinking, stinking without you

And I'll miss you when you're gone
That is what I do, hey, baby
And it's going to carry on
That is what I do, hey, baby

Hey, baby

    My Interpretation

Personally I think the song is about losing someone (to death?) and the feeling of you're entire world crumbling around you. The video seems to match this interpretation with everyone gathering, dressed in black attire and looking upwards (towards heaven?). A symbol of a burning room with two chairs, in the end only a single chair remains, burning alone...

Hold on to love, that is what I do Now that I've found you And from above, everything's stinking, There not around you

Since she has found that special person who she loves, holding onto love is what she always did to keep going. I think the "...from above, everything's stinking, there not around you" is maybe talking about him being in heaven looking down upon them, and life has become "stinking" without him there, without being around him.

And in the night, I could be helpless I could be lonely, sleeping without you And in the day, everything's complex There's nothing simple when I'm not around you

Coping with the loss of someone is difficult, especially missing the usual things you do together. In the night, she could feel helpless and lonely and he is not there to comfort her anymore. In the day, life goes on, but it is complex having to do everything alone, without your love in your life.

But I miss you when you're gone That is what I do baby And it's going to carry on That is what I do baby

She always missed him when he was away from her, it's not the same without him around, and now he will not be coming back again, so this feeling is going to carry on, there is nothing she can do about it. :( But she also has to carry on despite her anguish.

Hold on to my hands, I feel like sinking Sinking without you And to my mind, everything's stinking Stinking without you

Similar sentiments as the previous verses; loneliness, wishing he was back in her life; in her mind everything around doesn't mean anything without him there.

And in the night, I could be helpless I could be lonely, sleeping without you And in the day, everything's complex There's nothing simple when I'm not around you

But I miss you when you're gone That is what I do baby And it's going to carry on That is what I do baby

A beautifully tragic song, with heart wrenching vocals by an amazing singer. Love The Cranberries!

it reminds me of who I have a crush on and since he is gone (he got expelled from school) i think of him and in the song "I Will Always" too.

this is one of the best songs i've ever heard... sort of depressing in a way... i spent nearly 3 years looking for the title of the song since i heard it on the radio. good thing i saw the video on VH1 a week ago. kudos to the cranberries and to VH1

hmm. i listened to the cranberries a lot when i was going through a breakup; it's like an unwritten rule or something that you just do that.... but this song really stood out to me - because it's just that simple: it's about a breakup. or atleast, that's the way i interpret it. because if you've had your heart broken, you know exactly how hard it it so sleep alone at night, and to try to function in the day. nothing makes sense, it's all complicated and turned around. and all you can do is just keep going on without this person, keep sinking, keep dreaming, carrying on as best you can. this song is a breakdown. it's one day out of many where the girl just realizes it's so much to handle.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
