Military Fairy Lyrics

Oooh get her! Whoops!
I've got your number ducky.
You couldn't afford me, dear. Two three.
I'd scratch your eyes out.

Don't come the brigadier bit with us, dear,
We all know where you've been, you military fairy!

Whoops, don't look now girls,
The major's just minced in
With that dolly colour sergeant,
Two, three, ooh-ho!

It would be great hazing in Boot Camp to be made to perform this sketch. What the heck does "minced in" mean anyway?

loderunner, mincing in means walking in a slighty prissy dainty way... I think.

Anyway, this is a mickey take on the fact that Michael Palin (the Colonel) is gay. After the drill, he says, "Right, stop that! It's silly... and a bit suspect, I think."

"Don't come the brigadier bit with us, dear, We all know where you've been, you military fairy!" = homophobic attitude of the army at the time (I guess).

This was written during a time when awareness of homosexuality was pretty young.

Could someone PLEASE tell me what a dolly colour sergeant is?

Actually the gay colonel is Graham Chapman. I heard this was meant to be MP's response to a load of homophobic comments they'd been receiving at the time. So funny though... I have to learn this dance :)
