I'm sorry for the times that I made you scream
For the times that I killed your dreams
For the times that I made your whole world rumble
For the times that I made you cry
For the times that I told you lies
For the times that I watched and let you stumble

It's too bad, but that's me
What goes around comes around, you'll see
That I can carry the burden of pain
'Cause it ain't the first time that a man goes insane
And when I spread my wings to embrace him for life
I suck out all the love I, I'll never be nobody's wife

I'm sorry for the times that I didn't come home
Left you lyin' in that bed alone
Flyin' high in the sky when you needed my shoulder
You're like a stone hangin' round my neck, see
Cut it loose before it breaks my back, see
I've gotta say what I feel before I grow older

I'm sorry but I ain't gonna change my ways
You know I've tried but I'm still the same
I've got to do it my own way

It's too bad, but hey, that's me
What goes around comes around, you'll see
That I can carry the burden of pain
'Cause it ain't the first time, no, that a man goes insane
And when I spread my wings to embrace him for life
Suck out all the love, I, I'll never be nobody's wife

It's too bad, but hey, that's me
What goes around comes around, you'll see
That I can carry the burden of pain
'Cause it ain't the first time, oh no, that a man goes insane
'Cause when I spread my wings to embrace him for life
Suck out his love, I, I'll never be nobody's wife

I'll never be, never be, never gonna be, never gonna be, never gonna be, nobody's wife

Anouk's not a bitch, atleast thats not what this song intends to say. Shes a strong woman who loves her man, but loves her freedom more. she knows that if shell give her freedom up, give herself up, she'll be "sucking out his love", cause love survives only when its free. Atleast thats the way I see it...

I think this song is not only about her being strong and wanting her freedom but also her being afraid to be committed cuz in past relationships the guys she has dated have been bad guys so she no longer trusts them. "What goes around comes around, and you'll see that I can carry the burden of pain 'cause it ain't the first time that a man goes insane"

Also, she wants to be with a guy but doesn't want to get too close cuz she thinks he's just going to end up hurting her like the other guys have in the past.

I've just come up with reggae version and I'm amazed how powerful and true the song is. Absolutely the best Anouk song.

I'll never be nobody's wife is a double negative and means she will be somebody's wife.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Dreamwalker

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
