Radioactive Toy Lyrics
Run through forests on a hot Summer day
Trying to break down walls of numbing pain
Give me the freedom to destroy
Give me radioactive toy
Taste the water from a stream of running death
Eat the apple and cough a dying breath
Feel the sun burning through your black skin
Pour me into a hole, inform my next of kin
Run through graveyards on a dusty Winter day
Spit the dirt out and try to say...
Trying to break down walls of numbing pain
Give me radioactive toy
Eat the apple and cough a dying breath
Pour me into a hole, inform my next of kin
Spit the dirt out and try to say...

I know that the song is about Atomic Bombs, but I am currently going through Radiotherapy for Skin Cancer and for me, the song has a totally different meaning. I listen to it on a daily basis, it really helps.

The best early PT song.
Very good song. I remember hearing it on radio 1 in about 1994, and for years I didnt know who it was by, but it always stuck in my mind.
In the book for 'Tarquin's seaweed farm' steven wilson writes: "politics has always bored me. This piece could be about peace, love and harmony. Or it could be about nuclear genocide. You decide."
im surprised no one commented on this classic PT songs... my favorite from the earliest PT days.
yea... obviously about atomic bombs.
Yes, atomic bombs, for sure. It's probably so obvious that no one bothered commenting.
if you want a good video that suits this song go to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhZXEocXEY0 . this song is really awesome and illustrates in few but meaningful words the consequences of man using nuclear power without knowing his own limits
Decent, I think he could have adapted the lyrics to vocals a little better, but still good. I like the falsetto background when he says "give me..." It reminds me of a band called TV On The Radio, which so far is pretty good.

Having watched "Threads" recently (worth a watch if you're not from Sheffield) and being a huge fan of the "Fallout" series this evokes some powerful and desolate images of a world beyond the edge of decay.
I love how certain lines start so positively e.g. "taste the water from a stream...", which immediately conjures images of crystal clear water over smooth pebbles halfway up a mountain; then "of running death". Thanks Steven. Trés cheerful. Cheerful no, poignant yes. I love it.
