The Moon Touches Your Shoulder Lyrics

Springtime is over
Don't head for home
Creep up the ladder
And steal over stone

No time to forget this
World's in your eyes
Sway in the cloud blur
And light up the sky

Cast off the colour
And tune in to black
The moon touches your shoulder
And brings the day back

The first verse somehow seems like it would have something to do with college, and the spring semester ending. Whoever this is doesn't want to head back home to his or her parents: "Springtime is over / Don't head for home". Instead, this person wants to do more adventurous things during summer, and explore the world. I dunno, this explanation sounds quite silly even to myself, but from the first verse, I kinda get this feeling. I think the whole song is about being free and experiencing things while you can.

I think it's about after being in a good place or period in someone's life. And the situation is over and that person is gotta go through an approaching dark, or harsh, phase of some sort, as in a war or something in that order- that means a lot to the person as far as his ambition to step out of it winning, or simply to get it over with... It seems to me that the narrator is lecturing to himself and it appears that he's been in that situation once before. He is femiliar with it, though it is still hard. I believe that at the same time that it is supposedly realistic and depressing it's also very impowering. Like someone or something talking you through and preparing you. Calming you... I love it that it's written so poetic and deals with elements from space throughout the album. Though it might indicate of a person that rely on things to give him strength. It could be about having an addiction for something, and getting over it.

It's horrible, because I think this song may be based on a book I read once, but I haven't a clue what it was called. but aside from that, the music has a such a great atmosphere to it.

Even the name sounds soft and sombre. I've never actually heard the song. But I'm going to download it tonight. Definitely.

It's almost like a poem. Very Beautiful.

The first verse makes me think of time - "Springtime is over /creep over stone" and how it appears not to move on a daily basis then suddenly can catch up with you.

The second verse is perhaps the sun personified - "No time to forget this World's in your eyes"

and "Sway in the cloud blur And light up the sky" point towards the idea this verse is about the sun as well.

and the final verse makes me think of night - "Cast off the colour And tune in to black"

with the final section perhaps being about the moon going down "The moon touches your shoulder" (shoulder of Earth?) and bringing with it the return of day "And brings the day back".

Either way, I adore this song.

I wish I had written this haha
