IMO, this text deals about death. I think it's an old man whose talking about his own death.

I think it talks about the open minded more "young" (if you'd like) generation. Of more ambitious people that are refusing to stay stuck with the past and with false ideals.

in a way it sounds like a trip on some kind of drug, maybe acid: "Strange days Incredible days" could be remebering the "good times" while on the drug.
"On a dark stars endless journey" could also represent the drug trip.
