Don't Hate Me Lyrics

A light snow is falling on London
All sign of the living has gone
The train pulls into the stations
And no-one gets off and no-one gets on

Don't hate me
I'm not special like you
I'm tired and I'm so alone
Don't fight me
I know you'll never care
Can I call you on the telephone, now and then?

One light burns in a window
It guides all the shadows below
Inside the ghost of a parting
And no-one is left, just the cigarette smoke

This one is (not only) lyrically one of my absolute favorites... especially the chorus (The verses might represent some personal experiences, dunno).

From my point of view, its about when you love a girl but she doesn't love you. When you are in such a situation, listen to that song and, trust me, you will not only understand every single line of the chorus, you can really FEEL it... simply awesome!

His name is Theo Something. You can find it on Wikipedia. He's pretty good, indeed. The Sax is truly awesome. I think it's the first track that they used this instrument in.

Beautiful, yet gloomy. Such an overwhelmingly emotional song. It could be a lot of things and I'm sure only Steve Wilson really knows the exact meaning behind it. Maybe a failed relationship?

Atmospherically and lyrically, this song has always reminded me of The Cure's 10:15 on a Saturday Night.

My Opinion

Ah the train referral. No one gets on. no one gets off. Stationary.

Long day perhaps, can I call you? to me it's person stuck on a relationship that has ended. His ghost of a parting. You see... this song is making me tick! could mean a waste since no one is left. just the perfume of smoke. wasted. regret? or just not being wanted= Don't hate me?

My Opinion

A person living an ordinary life and slipping through the cracks, hardly being noticed, being desperate for some semblance of human contact, but also thinking that others won't find them interesting enough to spend time with. "Don't hate me--I'm not special like you" describe an inferiority complex pretty well.
