Suddenly, Seymour Lyrics
Lift up your head
Wash off your mascara
Here, take my Kleenex
Wipe that lipstick away
Show me your face
Clean as the morning
I know things were bad
But now they're okay
Suddenly Seymour
Is standing beside you
You don't need no makeup
Don't have to pretend
Suddenly Seymour
Is here to provide you
Sweet understanding
Seymour's your friend
[AUDREY]
Nobody ever
Treated me kindly
Daddy left early
Mama was poor
I'd meet a man and
I'd follow him blindly
He'd snap his fingers
Me, I'd say "sure"
Suddenly Seymour
Is standin' beside me
He don't give me orders
He don't condescend
Suddenly Seymour
Is here to provide me
Sweet understanding
Seymour's my friend
[SEYMOUR]
Tell me this feeling lasts till forever
Tell me the bad times are clean washed away
[AUDREY]
Please understand that it's still
Strange and frightnin'
For losers like I've been
It's so hard to say
Suddenly Seymour
[SEYMOUR]
Suddenly Seymour
He purified me
He purified you
[AUDREY]
Suddenly Seymour showed me I can
[SEYMOUR]
Suddenly Seymour showed you you can
[BOTH]

oh my goodness, i love this song more than anything in the world. My friend was Seymour at a high school show, and I'm pretty much in love with him, and everytime I hear this song, I get all giddy and what not. It's kinda pathetic, but this song is fabulous none the less.
I know exactly what you mean, plain white tee! I was a little bit in love with the guy who played Seymour at my school. I can't believe there aren't more comments on here! I LOVE LSOH! Oh well...the lyrics are pretty obvious. But they're still sweet. :D

This song is incredibly beutiful. Everytime I hear it, I can't help but cry. I'm only 13 and I am starting to understand cult film musicals like RHPS. I've seen LSOH when I was younger but I didn't really understand. This song will mean more and more to me as I get older. ~º-º~ -MZEL95
2012 and still only 4 comments on here...not good! I wish Mzel95 was still on this site, because I feel the same way as she does, and I'm almost 39. I STILL can't hear the song without tearing up like a baby, especially as it crescendos toward the end. The part of the song that hits me hardest, though, is when Audrey sings:
Please understand that it's still Strange and frightnin' For losers like I've been It's so hard to say
That hits home for me, because I've spent so much of my life thinking I was "less than," instead of believing in myself and what I'm capable of. Sometimes I still feel that way. LSOH is one of my faves, always and forever, and this song is the favorite of my favorite! Long live musical theater.
