She doesn't own a dress
Her hair is always a mess
If you catch her stealin', she won't confess
She's beautiful

Smokes a pack a day
Wait that's me, but anyway
She doesn't care a thing about that, hey
She thinks I'm beautiful
Meet Virginia

She never compromises
Loves babies and surprises
Wears high heels when she exercises
Ain't that beautiful
Meet Virginia

Well, she wants to be the Queen
Then she thinks about her scene
Pulls her hair back as she screams
"I don't really wanna be the queen"

Her daddy wrestles alligators
Mama works on carburetors
Her brother is a fine mediator for the President
Well, here she is again on the phone
Just like me hates to be alone
We just like to sit at home and rip on the President
Meet Virginia, alright

Well, she wants to live her life
And she thinks about her life
Pulls her hair back as she screams
"I don't really wanna live this life"

No, no
No, no
No, no
No

She only drinks coffee at midnight
When the moment is not right
When timing is quite unusual
You see her confidence is tragic
But her intuition magic
And the shape of her body unusual

Meet Virginia
I can't wait to
Meet Virginia
Yeah, yeah, hey, hey, hey

Well, she wants to be the queen
Then she thinks about her scene
Well, she wants to live her life
And she thinks about her lies
Pulls her hair back as she screams
"I don't really wanna be the queen"
I, I don't really wanna be the queen
I, I don't really wanna be the queen
I, I don't really wanna live this

    My Interpretation

    This song is about...

A Waitress, who doesn't know what she wants out of life. The Narrator of this song is the gentleman who has been admiring Ms. Virginia from across the diner for years now. He is a regular there and he introducing Virginia to you from a distance.

She doesn't own a dress, her hair is always a mess If you catch her stealin', she won't confess

Imagine a waitress who works in a shirt and khakis all day. Coffee spillage is inevitable so she never wears dresses . "Catch her steal in" is an expression to describe how she picks up her tips..gratefully but nervous because she somehow feels like she doesn't deserve them.

She's beautiful, she smokes a pack a day, wait that's me, but anyway

She really does smoke a pack a day out back, but her manager doesn't allow it, so the narrator is covering for her

She doesn't care a thing about that, hey She thinks I'm beautiful. Meet Virginia

When she walks by, she says "good evenin' beautiful"

"meet virginia" He's introducing you to Virginia from afar

She never compromises, loves babies and surprises

She doesn't allow for substitutions to the menu, due to her bad memory, but always smiles for babies and extra tips

Wears hi-heels when she exercises Ain't that beautiful Meet Virginia

This is a play on words, She has to wear heels at work. Her "exercise" is running back and forth taking orders and delivering dishes.

Well she wants to be the Queen Then she thinks about her scene Pulls her hair back as she screams I don't really wanna be the queen

Another poetic play on words. She's painfully discouraged by her current waitress situation...she doesn't think she has what it takes to accomplish her dreams, so sadly she denies that she has any.

Her daddy wrestles alligators, Mama works on carburetors Her brother is a fine mediator for the President Well here she is again on the phone Just like me hates to be alone We just like to sit at home, and rip on the President

This reveals more seeds of her insecurity. She comes from a brave, talented, and intelligent family. They're out there impressing the world and "here she is again" struggling with her fear of loneliness.

Meet Virginia Well she wants to live her life Then she thinks about her life Pulls her hair back as she screams I don't really wanna live this life

She wants so badly to break free and live the life of her dreams but she is shackled by doubt and her perceived position in society

She only drinks coffee at midnight, when the moment is not Right, her timing is quite unusual You see her confidence is tragic, but her intuition magic And the shape of her body unusual

She always takes her coffee break at the busiest time of night.

She lacks confidence, but has a magical way of making everyone around her happy even when she brings their food late..

Her body shape is "unusually" well shaped for a waitress who works double shifts. It has yet to show the wear and tear of the abuse she puts it through.

Meet Virgina I can't wait to Meet Virginia, yeah e yeah hey hey hey

Here he reveals the secret that he has never formally met Virginia before. All that he knows of her is a compilation of their 2 or 3 sentence conversations and what he has observed of her from a distance. He himself struggles with inadequacy and hopes to one-day overcome his fears and speak with her one on one...and maybe perhaps help her to overcome hers

Classic love story true to his western tx roots. One of my favorites as a story, but I think there are alot of songs that are amazing not even listed on this site. I guess I should figure out how to add them, because I have about 8 REK cd's.

Step
Ministry
Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.
