Live and Let Die Lyrics
When you were young and your heart was an open book
You used to say live and let live
You know you did
You know you did
You know you did
But if this ever-changing world in which we live in
Makes you give in and cry
Chorus
Say live and let die
Live and let die
Live and let die
Live and let die
What does it matter to you?
When you gotta job to do
You gotta do it well
You gotta give the other fellow hell
You used to say live and let live
You know you did
You know you did
You know you did
But if this ever-changing world in which we live in
Makes you give in and cry
Chorus
You used to say live and let live
You know you did
You know you did
You know you did
But if this ever-changing world in which we live in
Makes you give in and cry
Say live and let die
Live and let die
Live and let die
Live and let die
When you gotta job to do
You gotta do it well
You gotta give the other fellow hell
You know you did
You know you did
You know you did
But if this ever-changing world in which we live in
Makes you give in and cry

this song is so amazing. i think it means that when you were young and dint no mcuh about the world you would say live and let live because thats all you wanted to do cus life was great. when you got older and the world sdtarted to change it would often dissapoint people about some of the horrible things that would happen.so now you would say live and let die..your living your life(doing your job) and you have to live it well, give the other guy hell meaning do what you have to, to get to where you want to go, but when its time dont be dissapointed that it will come to an end, u've lived your life to the best and now it is time to die.
Yeah. adri29's right. When you're young and don't know the ways of the world, you want to believe the wiorld is a good place. But when you enter the reality of our world, you realise you'd have to push others off to live yourself.
ssssswwwwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeettttttttttttt song!!!!!!!! "you gotta give the other fellow HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" what a phrase to live by!
This song kicks ass but its by Paul McCartney & Wings...very catchy and with a good point.
Playing videogames just got funner.
Great song, another band did it justice but with 007 this was great.
I believe this song contains the one of the most redundant lines in rock history...
"But if this ever-changing world in which we live in "
I like the GnR version...but the original was the best...
I think the song is about how the world can turn a person so bitter and resentful that at one point they can just forget their moral principles, and say "the hell with it ALL!".
Has anybody seen the Bond movie with the same title? It must've been good for when it came out, but it sucks in terms of action and villains.
Some people think it's, "but in this ever-changing world in which we live in..."
Others think it's, "but if this ever-changing world in which we live in..."
Still others argue it's, "but if tihs ever-changing world in which we're livin'..."
I'm guessing Paul wrote the third one but accidentally sung the second one and liked how it sounded, so he stuck with it.
Agree with PencilNeckedGeek, but one could argue that everything after "world" is redundant since the general definition of "world" is "place we live in". It'd be like saying "the cigarettes which we smoke" or "the guitars which we play" -- there's really nothing else you would do with them.

Still love the song, though. And it works so well over the 007 intro.
