Autophilia Or How I Learned To Stop Worrying and.. Lyrics

I love your bodywork and your flashy pop-up lights.
The way you hug the corners, however fast and tight.
She comes in sixteen colours, she’ll suck your money dry.
Gives shitty mileage, but come on let’s get inside.

I love your slinky spoilers, they really speak to me.
State-of-the-art sound system, leather upholstery.
She purrs just like a kitten, she seems to throb with pride.
Gives you the feeling you’ve been taken for a ride.

Pay no attention to the sign.
No stopping any time.
Come park that chassis next to mine.
You know, I’m on a double-yellow line.

I love your bodywork and your flashy pop-up lights.
The way you hug the corners, however fast and tight.
She comes in sixteen colours, she’ll suck your money dry.
Gives shitty mileage, but come on let’s get inside.

Pay no attention to the sign.
No stopping any time.
Come park that chassis next to mine.
You know, I’m on a double-yellow line.

I like to burn some rubber, I like to feel the steel.
I like to put my foot down, I like to take the wheel.
She purrs just like a kitten, she’ll go that final mile.
But if she’s rocking don’t come knocking for a while.

Pay no attention to the sign.
No stopping any time.
Come park that chassis next to mine.
You know, I’m on a double-yellow line.

Right. My dad just asked me what a philia was as in the context of a phobia and philia.

I gave him 3 examples, one of which (thinking of this song) was autophilia.

Then I looked up some more and I was shocked to discover that autophilia is not the love of cars. It is the love of solitude.

How odd.

I wonder if the Bluetones know this?

It's made me think about the song more but I can't see any double meaning in the lyrics.

Hmmmm. I wonder if the Bluetones also know that everyone thinks Emily's Pine is about murder.
