Sometimes when this place gets kind of empty
Sound of their breath fades with the light
I think about the loveless fascination
Under the Milky Way tonight

Lower the curtain down on Memphis
Lower the curtain down all right
I got no time for private consultation
Under the Milky Way tonight

Wish I knew what you were looking for
Might have known what you would find

And it's something quite peculiar
Something shimmering and white
Leads you here despite your destination
Under the Milky Way tonight

Wish I knew what you were looking for
Might have known what you would find
Wish I knew what you were looking for
Might have known what you would find

And it's something quite peculiar
Something shimmering and white
Leads you here despite your destination
Under the Milky Way tonight

Wish I knew what you were looking for
Might have known what you would find
Wish I knew what you were looking for
Might have known what you would find

Under the Milky Way tonight
Under the Milky Way tonight
Under the Milky Way tonight

General Commentreading these comments, i am kind of wishing this song wasn't in Donnie Darko.
i've never seen that movie before, i am australian and know this beautiful song for simply what it really is - not "that song from donnie darko", but as an Australian classic; the thinking-man's unofficial national anthem, if you like.
i really really desperately hope that this is what the song will be remembered as.
because it's beautiful and deserves more than simply a film reference..
