Toledo was just another good stop
Along the good King's highway
My fortification took me by surprise
And hit me sending me sideways
Spellbound-Roundly-Good for sunshine
Can't help thinking
Singing the rule Britannia
And this is where it grabs you
There's method in the key of C
Toledo's got to be the silver city
In this good country
Our song
It gives us a reason
Our song
That good remedy
Music has magic
That stuff of syncopation
Ever tried driving it to golden heights
Just simply jiving it
My mystification it got a
Jewel skies crazy spacing it
Hot sun-crowed-screams high voices
Singing speechless
Touching of the healing heart
So this is where we really start
Music is a shout of forgone conclusions
As long as music plays it's part
Good Good part
Our song
It gives us a reason
Our song
That good remedy
Music and magic
It's good clear syncopation
Treat it good
Treat it rightly
And if you get it flowing
The harmony is glowing
So get ready
So get ready
Don't go Toledo Toledo don't go
Music-Good to you
Music-Good to you
Along the good King's highway
My fortification took me by surprise
And hit me sending me sideways
Spellbound-Roundly-Good for sunshine
Can't help thinking

According to Alan White, Yes's 1977 show in Toledo was especially memorable to the band, mainly because of the temperature inside the Toledo Sports Arena: it was the hottest venue the band had performed in, reaching 126 °F (52 °C). (wikipedia)
However, the heavy reference to Toledo was just a nod to a moment. The song is actually about national anthems, and how they are a unifying song for each country's people: Our song: It gives us a reason Our song: That good remedy Music has magic — It's good clear syncopation
@jason12664 I was there! I was a senior at Waite HS a short walk from the Sports Arena. I took off my shirt to wring it out...literally. It became a very special powerful experience for all of us, like a Native American sweat lodge. Yes seemed to be inspired by the completely divergent experience from a normal road gig. When Our Song came out a couple of years later I was ecstatic...I knew that Yes felt the same as we did!

Presumably a reflection of a better then average gig in Toledo?
Anyhow, a straightforward (for Yes) and upbeat song that always lifts my spirits.
indeed. i always loved the bit that goes "our song, it gives us a reason. our song, that good remedy. music and magic. it's good clear syncopation".
This is one of my favorite songs from Yes, and it is very uplifting; sounds like a song for summer with an almost typical 80's vibe going on.

Always assumed Toledo was referring to the city in Spain which has plenty of sunshine, impressive (castle) fortifications, could be said to be along the King's highway (El Camino Real) to Madrid, and is known for making silver jewelry and swords.
