They're throwing rocks and paving stones
So let's go while we can
Put your finger on the map
Who cares where it lands
Cause we're all better off in new york
On the road and out of town
We're moving on again
Everything they say is true
This city is insane
Every possibility
Nothing's left to chance
They're throwing rocks and paving stones
Who says it has to last
On the run
Till we're caught in New York
Cause we're all better dead
Than be caught
Maybe best not to talk
Till New York
Cause we're all better off
In New York
On the run
Till we're caught in New York
Cause we're all better off
In New York
On the run
Till we're caught
In New York
On the run
Till we're caught
In New York
On the run
Till we're caught
In New York
So let's go while we can
Put your finger on the map
Who cares where it lands
Cause we're all better off in new york
We're moving on again
Everything they say is true
This city is insane
Every possibility
Nothing's left to chance
They're throwing rocks and paving stones
Who says it has to last
Till we're caught in New York
Cause we're all better dead
Than be caught
Maybe best not to talk
Till New York
Cause we're all better off
In New York
Till we're caught in New York
Cause we're all better off
Till we're caught
In New York
Till we're caught
In New York
Till we're caught
In New York

i cant believe anyones commented.
anyway the song seems to be about going to live in New York (New York City in particular, although you could consider it more generally)
an exhilirating take on the metropolis.
why go? "they're throwing rocks and paving stones" - politics lived outloud on the streets. not just talk anymore, something's actually happening! "so let's go while we can!" for it may not last - who says it has to?! carpe diem!
affirmation of nomadic livelihood: "on the road and out of town we're moving on again". the city is to be explored, rife with opportunities for those with a taste for adventure.
taking refuge: "on the run till we're caught / in New York / 'cause we're all better THERE than be caught". amidst erupting "chaos" and the city's immensity, the free-spirited nomads can evade detection from the authorities. they don't plan on surrendering!
also the Chris Coco remix of this song is excellent. that track can be found on disc two of the Austrailian edition of Lost Sides.
I like the little solo after the first chourus.
Oh...
So at the end it's NOT "coz we're all doing coke, in New York" ?
Ok
