The Mighty Quinn Lyrics
Come all without, come all within
You'll not see nothing like the mighty Quinn
Come all without, come all within
You'll not see nothing like the mighty Quinn
Everybody's building ships and boats
Some are building monuments, others jotting down notes
Everybody's in despair, every girl and boy
But when Quinn the Eskimo gets here
Everybody's gonna jump for joy
Come all without, come all within
You'll not see nothing like the mighty Quinn
Come all without, come all within
You'll not see nothing like the mighty Quinn
I like to go just like the rest, I like my sugar sweet
But jumping pews and making haste
Just ain't my cup of meat
Everyone's beneath the trees feeding pigeons on a limb
But when Quinn the Eskimo gets here
All the pigeons gonna run to him
Come all without, come all within
You'll not see nothing like the mighty Quinn
Come all without, come all within
You'll not see nothing like the mighty Quinn
Listen to what I want to do, I can't decide on my own
Just tell me where it hurts, and I'll tell you who to call
Nobody can get no sleep, if someone's on everyone's toes
But when Quinn the Eskimo gets here
Everybody's gonna want to doze
Come all without, come all within
You'll not see nothing like the mighty Quinn
Come all without, come all within
You'll not see nothing like the mighty Quinn
Come all without, come all within
You'll not see nothing like the mighty Quinn
Come all without, come all within
You'll not see nothing like the mighty Quinn
You'll not see nothing like the mighty Quinn
Come all without, come all within
You'll not see nothing like the mighty Quinn

To please the first couple of posts the lyrics have been corrected :)
Nice song. I prefer the Hollies take on it.
This song is about anything you want it to be. If you have your own personal interperation of it that makes you feel good, then keep it close to you. I know this sounds cliche and can be said of any work of art, but for this song, I feel it really to be true. This is truley Dylan at his best playing around and just having fun.
Dylan is waaaaaaaay overrated.
Says you. Try writing a few songs that resonate with people over the decades. Dylan has written hundreds permanently etched on my consciousness. Whereas your post only generates annoyance and eye-rolling. I bet you're the type of person who says your four-year-old can draw better than Picasso.

I had always understood this to be about a coke dealer (the eskimo selling sno) to bring the people out of their blues and get them partying. That's me and my friends looking back to the 60s from the 80s when cocaine was more prevalent. Ah well. Nice to see other takes.
It's about the movie The Savage Innocents where Anthony Quinn played an Eskimo.
YES and NO. The name "Mighty Quinn" was the name of a dealers "car" of a mixed cocaine. and that was named after the Anthony Quinn movie reference. There was CLEARLY no religious reference and that is just Xtians wanting to "find jesus" in everything. How ignorant and "how christian of you"! (That is NEVER a compliment from me!) It is about how good you'll feel when you buy this guys coke! People are always ignorant about the drug culture of NYC and the terms used. Look for your musical religious referencing in songs from your hymnals only! You'll find VERY FEW ever in pop culture music. Also the "come on without, come all within" and "jumpin queues is saying if you are without coke come to the clubs, and the Queues are the lines outside the clubs to get in! Also "building ship and boats" was about mixing your drugs and buying drugs from more than one dealer, ships refered to a dealers shipment and boats were the black plastic bags the coke was in to get it into the clubs. So building ships and boats was getting your stock ready each day for the nights business in the clubs "tea rooms"! Thanks, Scotty
@scottyboyd looking way too much into it dude...If Dob Dylan included this many hints and references he would have been writing a movie script...think more generally

@scottyboyd Yeah... Bob Dylan didn't have a huge and public conversion to Christianity which informed his music for decades or anything. I'm sure it's all just obscure references to NYC drug culture.

How "East Coast" of you. (That's NEVER a compliment from me.)

"I like to go just like the west,"
"The Mighty Quinn", as sung by Elmer Fudd.
Until I read this page, I seriously thought it was:
"When Quinn the Eskimo gets here, all the bitches gonna run to him!" I was all... dang, Dylan is straight gangsta.
Wow... It's a good song, but i'm saddened by this lyric submittal. It's barely in english, to be honest. On another note, does anyone know what the song means?
