I think this song has a whole lot more in it than we all think. The fierys are a result of what happens when you give up on growing up. They have no responsibility but they also serve as a warning to Sarah. They literally say what the final scene of the movie is when they say " And even down looks up "

They describe a whole lot of the distractions she'll encourage including Jareth, himself: "Drive you crazy, really lazy (Sarah's not wanting to babysit) , eye rollin'(The resentment Sarah gives her parents and that Hoggle gives her) , funky strollin' (Jareth's plain presence in this movie), ball playin' (Jareth's use of the crystal balls and his offering Sarah her dreams) Hip swayin' (Dancing in Dance Magic), trouble makin' (The many obstacles: the Cleaners, the Boy of Eternal Stench, etc.) , booty shakin' (the ball or party scene), tripping, passing, jumping Bouncing, drivin' (The movements of Jareth during the Within You scene) , stylin', creeping, pouncing, shoutin', screamin' (Sarah's constant cries for help) Double dealin', rockin', rollin' (The fact that Jareth is supposed to look like a Rock and Roll singer) , and a-reelin' With the mackin' sex appealin' (Jareth's persona and attitude towards Sarah) . Can you dig our groovy feelin'?"

Maybe the fierys we're goofy characters but perhaps they were warning Sarah to not believe everything she'd seen.

The fire gang (as the orange n pink furry things r calld) are the funniest fluffy critters since the lil ewoks in star wars number...ummm... the 6th one was it?!?!?!?! Neway i think the puppet characters in this film are hilarious. even the skanky little goblin that snaps "shut up" to everyone.... grr... lol! The fire gang remind me of sum peepz at a party i went to, who wer heavily under t influence of drugs/booze/both. they wer determined to play football with randm things and actually startd tryin to pull each others heads off like in the film.... strange people....... :p "hey her head dnt cum orf".... u dnt say!!! lol xxx

Heh, no explanation to this song? :P Ah well, guess it doesn't really matter what it means. It's a fun song and this scene was awesome in the movie. (Heck, the movie was awesome in general.)

I guess I could give an interpretation a shot though. Seems like it's just about people who kindof waste their life doing nothing productive, but have a heck of a fun time being unproductive anyway. They don't let hard times get them down--they just smile their way through everything. Kindof a "you only get one shot at life, so have as much fun with it as you can" mentality. It's the kind of life the Fireys seem to live, anyway.

wow! this song reminds me so much of being little and thinking 'Labyrinth' was the greatest movie ever. this song still rules. anyways, that's what i think...

This is one of the best songs in Labyrinth. No one can call themselves well-educated unless you've seen this movie. This is also one of my favorite parts in the movie, despite the fact that I could never figure out the words.

This is defo my favourite song in Labyrinth. Labyrinth has to be my favourite childhood film of all time. Though the orangey/pinky fluffy things that sing this song in the film used to scare the hell outta me!
