With a Little Help from My Friends Lyrics

A little help from my friends
What would you think if I sang out of tune,
Would you stand up and walk out on me.
Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song,
And I'll try not to sing out of key.

I get by with a little help from my friends,
I get high with a little help from my friends,
Going to try with a little help from my friends.

What do I do when my love is away.
(Does it worry you to be alone)
How do I feel by the end of the day
(Are you sad because you're on your own)

No I get by with a little help from my friends,
Do you need anybody,
I need somebody to love.
Could it be anybody
I want somebody to love.

Would you believe in a love at first sight,
Yes I'm certain that it happens all the time.
What do you see when you turn out the light,
I can't tell you, but I know it's mine.

Oh I get by with a little help from my friends,
Do you need anybody,
I just need somebody to love,
Could it be anybody,
I want somebody to love.

I get by with a little help from my friends,
Yes I get by with a little help from my friends,
With a little help from my friends.

Hey! Ringo had a voice suited for all these songs, deep and meaningful. He is far from retarted. Sure they had their fun giving shit to Ringo, but he was just as talanted as the rest of them. The Beatles were a hollistic group. They did so well cause they worked together. You can't single any of them out and still expect them to have achieved so much success without any of the others.

MetChick summed it up perfectly. Oh, and the few songs Ringo did write for the group were FAR from "retarded." Next time you criticize be sure not to use "retarded" as a putdown because it makes you seem unbelievably ignorant.

I happen to like this song, the beatles are a good group.

didn't anyone notice the lyrics are wrong -.- might be just me but isn't it "what would u do" not "what would u think"?

To take this song at face value is to not fully appreciate the Beatles as artists. The Beatles purposely made their songs in ways that would leave them open to different interpretations, but that doesn't mean they did not hear their own music and not realize the more obvious possible interpretations.

Trust me, they did not fully produce this song and then months later go "WOAH! People think this song is about free love?! We would have never thought it was possible to think this song is about bisexuality!" No, they knew it when they wrote it, as they also realized it can do with drugs, or just going out and having a good night on the town...

Cuz guess what? There are MANY ways that you get by with a little help from your friends, and if for you that involves doing drugs with your friends, or playing music, or fucking shit up, or wanking it with your friends, then that is how YOU do it.

And since those four were drug using free lovers, then you can assume that their interpretation of this song does include their cherished memories of those times including drugs and sex.

If you don't have similar memories in your life, then that is not what this song means (to you).

Subjectivity is a powerful thing.

Billy Shears!! actually, ringo sings this song...i like it.

Billy Shears is Ringo. Paul made up that name for him like an alter ego for Sgt Pepper's L H C Band.

Billy Shears was a made up name that was used to signify the peace sign. (Hold up your peace fingers and do a scissors thing). Messages in songs were frowned upon by the record companies and the media back then, so many of their songs had to be very cryptic. Ringo is not the greatest drummer the world has ever seen, I admit, but he was in the right place at the right time, and produced some of the best music known to the entire world. Love this song, all of the versions, and think it was made for Ringo.

This may be a bit off-topic, but the most irritating part of Sgt. Pepper's (the CD version) is how track 2 starts with the end "Bil-ly Shears!". Makes it difficult to just listen to LHCB or this song independantly (in MP3 format, that is)

There is nothing wrong with this song and how it is sung. And you'll only like the Joe Cocker version if you were a fan of "the wonder years". And if it wasnt for ringo, were would we be without Thomas the Tank Engine?
