Elemental Lyrics
This race is already run
Get off your horse, get on this train
" Welcome to the real world "
I said " Welcome to the real world "
Are we rushing like the wind ?
Naked out and naked in
" Welcome to the free world "
I said " Welcome to the me world "
Are we rushing like the wind ?
Put your lovin' arms around
Did you lose your faith in God, no ?
Does your conscience always get you down ?
Fall to pieces, rough and tumble
Does your conscience always get you down ?
These days it's all the mind
It's Elemental
Don't say your up when your down
It's Elemental
Put your lovin' arms around
This your new year's resolution
Put your lovin'arms around
Nothing doing resolution
Put your lovin' arms around
Take another leap in the dark
With a humble heart
Do yourself some good
What did you become ?
Patience, be sure
Baby, baby
These days it's all the mind
It's Elemental
Don't say your up when your down
It's Elemental
Get off your horse, get on this train
" Welcome to the real world "
I said " Welcome to the real world "
Are we rushing like the wind ?
Naked out and naked in
" Welcome to the free world "
I said " Welcome to the me world "
Are we rushing like the wind ?
Does your conscience always get you down ?
Fall to pieces, rough and tumble
Does your conscience always get you down ?
It's Elemental
Don't say your up when your down
It's Elemental
Put your lovin'arms around
Nothing doing resolution
Put your lovin' arms around
With a humble heart
Do yourself some good
What did you become ?
Patience, be sure
Baby, baby
It's Elemental
Don't say your up when your down
It's Elemental

The bulk of the "Elemental" album is Roland's answer to his deep disappointment over Curt exiting TFF. Roland felt betrayed. After Curt left, Roland retained the TFF name, essentially "became" TFF, and felt he was beginning anew. The songs "Break It Down Again" and "Elemental" are both about starting over, without Curt.
This song is about how we all have the mental ability of giving ourselves happiness, desperation, sadness, anything that you can think of.
I listen to this song on many mornings. It helps me focus my mind on being true to how I am feeling, to admit that I am down when I am down. I think this song is about being authentic and genuine and not putting on a happy face. Another message for me is in the lyric "these days its all in the mind, it's elemental" means for me that experiences that happened to me when I was a child that harmed me deeply, they are in the past, and the fear I feel still today, it is only in my mind, and it is elemental that I distinguish one from the other.
"Don't say you're up when you're down" Don't pretend you're happy when you aren't
