Oh,
oh,
oh,
oh

Break it down again

So those are my dreams
And these are my eyes
Stand tall like a man
Headstrong like a horse

When it's all mixed up
Better break it down
Oo, oo. Oo, oo
In the world of secrets
In the world of sound
Oo, oo

It's in the way you're always hiding from the light
See for yourself, you have been sitting on a time bomb
No revolution maybe someone somewhere else
Could show you something new about you and your inner song

And all the love, and all the love in the world
Won't stop the rain from falling
Waste sleeping underground (break it down again)
I want to break it down (break it down again)

Break it down again

So those are my schemes
And these are my plans
Hot tips for the boys
Fresh news from the force
When it's all mixed up
Better break it down
Oo, oo. Oo, oo
In the world of silence
In the world of sound
Oo, oo

"No sleep for the dreaming" say the architects of life
Big bouncing babies, bread and butter can I have a slice?
They make no mention of the beauty of decay
Blue, yellow, pink umbrella, save it for a rainy day

And all the love, and all the love in the world
Won't stop the rain from falling
Waste sleeping underground (break it down again)
I want to break it down (break it down again)

Horsing around
Pray to the power
Play to the crowd with your big hit sound
And they won't simmer Won't simmer
Won't simmer down
Play to the crowd
Play to the crowd

It's in the way you're always hiding from the light
Last off to heaven just like moses on a motorbike
No revolution maybe someone else somewhere else
Could show you something new to help with the ups and downs

Break it down again
I want to break it down Break it down again
Break it down again (break it down again)
Break it down again (break it down again)

Break it down again
No more sleepy dreaming
No more building up
It is time to dissolve
Break it down again
No more sleepy dreaming

"...so you have to be gay to write a song about gay rights?"

Technically, no, but how many songs about women's rights do you know that are penned by men? Exactly. Songs about women's rights, a woman defending herself from a man, etc. are nearly always penned by women. (Mainly, Tori Amos :-P)

Think about it. But no I don't really see the gay rights interpretation, that was my point. It does make sense that he is writing about Curt, but I guess the gay rights interpretation could spring up by writing a song about another man.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Head > Heels
Ed Sheeran
“Head > Heels” is a track that aims to capture what it feels like to experience romance that exceeds expectations. Ed Sheeran dedicates his album outro to a lover who has blessed him with a unique experience that he seeks to describe through the song’s nuanced lyrics.
