Sea Song Lyrics

You look different every time
You come from the foam - crested brine
It's your skin shining softly in the moonlight
Partly fish, partly porpoise, partly baby sperm whale
Am I yours? are you mine to play with?

Joking apart, when you're drunk you're terrific
When you're drunk I like you mostly late at night
You're quite allright
But I can't understand the different you
In the morning
When it's time to play at being human for a while
We smile, we smile, we smile

You'll be different in the spring, I know
You're a seasonal beast
Like the Starfish that drift in with the tide, with the tide
So until your blood runs to meet the next full moon
Your madness fits in nicely with my own, with my own
Your lunacy fits neatly with my own
My very own
We're not alone

This has got to be my favourite tff song. About a lover who he cannot read, who constantly confuses him?

Joking apart, when you're drunk you're terrific When you're drunk I like you mostly late at night

This has a rather cynical ring to it. Yet when he says 'we smile' his voice almost cracks with emotion...or seems to.

I totally identify with the lines:

Your madness fits in nicely with my own, with my own Your lunacy fits neatly with my own

Originally by Robert Wyatt.

I Believe Dune did a cover of it as well.

dunes cover is the best one

I always thought the lyrics went "when you're drunk you're too thick, when you're drunk"

Yes, it's a cover, but damn: What á cover!

I never really understood this song so my interpretation is: It's about fish, who stand symbol for freedom, but later they become something like werewolves. See there the confusion.

I get goosebumps from the last line: 'We're not alone'
