Always In The Past Lyrics
Money can't change the way you feel
Smoke stains on your fingertips
Made for life is no big deal
When there's something behind you that just doesn't fit
And I can't stop thinking
Always in the past
No, no, I just can't stop thinking
Always in the past
It was always in
Smoke screens up at the break of day
Boy you must had a lonely night
And did your dreams reveal God's plan?
Did heaven say you're gonna make it allright
And I can't stop thinking
Always in the past
No, no, I just can't stop thinking
Always in the past
It was always in
Walk those streets
Paved with gold
You and I we are one and the same
We've got a whole lot of soul
Dance those steps
Of the ancient plague
You could sharpen knives on the famous lives
That were never saved
I just can't stop thinking
Always in the past
No, no, I just can't stop thinking
Always in the past
It was always in
I can't stop thinking
Always in the past
No, no, I just can't stop thinking
Always in the past
It was always in
Smoke stains on your fingertips
Made for life is no big deal
When there's something behind you that just doesn't fit
Always in the past
No, no, I just can't stop thinking
Always in the past
It was always in
Boy you must had a lonely night
And did your dreams reveal God's plan?
Did heaven say you're gonna make it allright
Always in the past
No, no, I just can't stop thinking
Always in the past
It was always in
Paved with gold
You and I we are one and the same
We've got a whole lot of soul
Dance those steps
Of the ancient plague
You could sharpen knives on the famous lives
That were never saved
Always in the past
No, no, I just can't stop thinking
Always in the past
It was always in
Always in the past
No, no, I just can't stop thinking
Always in the past
It was always in

I absolutely adore this song, but then again, I adore anything from Tears For Fears, because of the amazing, somewhat sad, lyrics and the lovely rhythem of the song. It just makes me wanna dance with a big smile.
im pretty sure this is another song roland wrote about curt.roland is really into astrology and the title could refer to curt's sun sign cancer which is a sign that tends to live in the past.there are references to curt taking up smoking and the move to new york[streets paved with gold]the line "you and me are one and the same"could be a reference to tears for fears;their common ground
This is one of my favorites right now!The lyrics have more of a tone of fallen celebrities of the past that are forgotten. But you never know about Roland his songs usually have more than one meaning!
