When I'm Sixty-Four Lyrics
This song WAS written by Paul when he was only 15.
And it was inspired by his father, not by the Beatles or record companies. Paul's dad was a Jazz band leader in the 20s, so Paul was used to hearing jazz like melodies all the time...which is where he draws the inspiration for this song's melodies.
And in the summer the song was written, his dad had just turned 64, and Paul just plugged the words in with the melody...
@Capt Aviator Jim McCartney turned 64 on July 7th, 1966. Paul had just turned 24. Sorry Captain, but you story does not add up.

I don't know the true origin of it, but I think this is just a happy, sweet love / proposal song. Happy guy in love with his girl, and wants to take care of her. Old fashined I guess, but simple and pure nentheless.
i think this is the perfect love song. kinda pointing out he's flawed, and hoping she'll love him anyway. indefinitely.
Thanx to "The World According to Garp",I was the only 10 year old who knew all of the words and could sing this song...:) Loved the movie&the song.
i love paul's voice in this song. the clarinet is cool too.
This was written by Paul when he was jut a teen. John didn't want this song on the album because this was kind of honoring Paul's father because he was 64 when it came out. John didn't want that because Paul's dad was the one who thought John was trouble and tried to steer Paul away from John. It is an ok song. I really don't like clarinets.
This song is so great. It has the greatest melody.
It's the perfect love song! Super fun and romantic.
THIS SONG IS GOOD-ITS NOT ONE OF THE GREATEST BUT I WOULDNT AS FAR AS SAYING I WOULDNT HAVE IT WRITTEN0I DO LIKE IT-ITS GOT A HAPPY FEELING I ALSO LIKE THE CLARINET AND THE TRUMPET AT THE BEGINING-ITS NO "ACROSS THE UNIVERSE" "BLACKBIRD" OR "YESTERDAY" BUT IT SERVES ITS PURPOSE!!
