this song was originally written in 81 i think... for david vanian of the damned to sing w/ the misfits doin instrumentals... dave only got around to a few rehearsals and eventually the idea was scrapped along w/ the song until Glenn and Eerie started up Samhain

This song is about satan, and based off the Bible Revelations of yeah the Seven seals opened by an angel, and the beast and satan ruling the world. Casted down my brethern, obviously refers to satan and his demons. Then they are calling satan an archangel protecting the demons, and saying how he can protect them all in hell.

I did a cover of this song...it's really just a biblical sort of revelations inspired song.

I personally think of it as Heaven sending down an archangel to do bad things and instill fear in humans (If you fear you have reason to), exposing them to sins(Pride lust Power). He is also undoing everything (Open all the seven seals). I'm not religious so i tend to steer clear of biblical stuff but that's off my little religious knowledge so there you go. Also, all things aside, this song freaking rocks. Cheers.

This song is definitely about Lucifer, the Prince of Light. In particular it's about showing defiance in for the final battle with Heaven. Lucifer explain why he and his brood were cast out, and that these sins are the exact ones he will use to corrupt humanity. Definitely a bitter Lucifer that seems to feel he doesn't deserve his lot, but will use it to spite God.
