To Forgive Is To Suffer Lyrics
To forgive is to suffer
Throughout
Our time
A thought escapes us
To enforce
A word, no
Holding on
To pain
It may seem to some
The easy way
To say OK
Twist your knife a little deeper
Words so sharp
Actions dark
Hide the blade of the deceiver
Enforce
The words
No more, be free
Alone
You might
Just find serenity
To forgive is to suffer
To accept another day
We choose to give away
Another piece of life
To forgive is to
Suffer
Once or twice
Is kind
Three or four is blind
It is not
The end yet a way to begin
The power
Of words both good and bad
The easy way
To say OK
Twist your knife a little deeper
Words so sharp
Actions dark
Hide the blade of the deceiver
Enforce
The words
No more, be free
Alone
You might
Just find serenity
To forgive is to suffer
To accept another day
We choose to give away
Another piece of life

It seems as though there is a bit of ambiguity involved in the song, for it is acknowledging that forgiveness is a form of suffering yet to suffer with meaning. Since the negativity of suffering is dependent on the attitude towards it, I.e. 'Pain is inevitable, misery is optional', Suffering is a means of utility for one's quality of life. The constantly forgive is not so much a suppression of pain, but rather the freedom from it. The point of forgiveness that it sets the victim free. Forgiveness is for the forgiver and not the perpetrator.
Wallamanage hit the nail on the head on this one :D
This is actually a great song IMHO. Really simple meaning I think.
Sometimes you voulentarily give up bit by bit of your life to a toxic person. Don't do it, just move on, to keep coming back to that is easy but it won't work out.
It's about forgiving someone which really pisses you off because you look weaker and it kills you inside.
"Once or twice is kind three or four is blind"
"Once or twice is kind three or four is blind"

@frostangel It may be a bit late but I want to answer for others who may read this. It just means that if you forgive someone "once or twice" you are a kind person, willing to forgive mistakes. But if you forgive the same person "three or four" times you are just blind and not willing to realize that this person will make the same mistake over and over again.

An amazing song C=
This song is rather confusing, but it appears to be painting out a particular narrative, not just making a blanket claim that forgiving people is choosing to suffer. In this narrative, someone is repeatedly betrayed, but keeps forgiving this betrayer, leading to them to be hurt again and again. Their interactions also appear to be verbal in nature, it sounds like the two people made a promise, one keeps it, while the other breaks. The narrator is encouraging them to stop forgiving them so they can break out of this cycle of abuse, maybe saying they don't need to keep their end of the promise if the other person doesn't keep theirs.
Well said megafury.
This is about an exam marker who wins a 50p coupon for his local Trading Post. He goes there and there is a man waiting for him. The man gives him his coupon. He buys a bottle of Sunny Delight with the coupon. He drinks it on a bench in the sunshine. He feels refreshed.
