Spirit Crusher

This is one of my fave songs of all time, the riffs and guitar solos are quite amazing and i can't even begin to say how good the lyrics are, i think it could be about someone who constantly tries to crush other people hopes and dreams, therefor this person is be a ''Spirit Crusher''

I think Chuck here talks about the feeling of anger. The first line says, "It comes from the depths of a place unknown to the keeper of dreams', which is true because they don't get angry much. And if even they start getting angry, than no one else will be left who is not patient/calm, which will begin an apocalypse, which is written by Chuck in the next line which says,"if it could then it would steal the sun and the moon from the sky beware'. Whenever you are completely angry, you forget the feeling of love towards the person whom you are angry on. You turn into an animal when you are completely angry. Murderers, criminals have a hot head. Thus, anger makes you an animal which is shown by Chuck in next line,'Human at sight, monster at heart'. And yes, a lot of anger have been tearing apart relations, lives, of others and ours, money, happiness, satisfaction and many such things, which is shown in line,'don't let it inside it could tear you right apart' Angry people are more of egoistic. And when ego comes in between, they will be having no guilt of being angry. Which indirectly means that the anger resides in egoistic people without a guilt. Anger has been symbolized as Spirit Crusher because it might not kill someone physically, but it will for sure kill someone mentally, the spirit will be crushed to death and no emotions would be playing part. Repetitive throwing of anger at someone will either take them away from you. or if their love towards you is strong enough, they will stay with you without emotions. Will anyone like such a life where people are without you, or if with you, then without emotions? So hold on tight and stay strong enough to have control over your anger. People with great anger but less physical strength have a developed habit of speaking sarcastically or being very mean while talking to others. Thats why it is written "Speaking in killing words". Now after this long explanation you might automatically understand the meaning of "The vicious kind that crush and kill no mercy, its pleasure to taste The blood that it bled." Now, my interpretation of the last part "When it's time to feed to fulfill the need to consume a breath some will rise standing tall breathing out all the breath from the voice of a soul." is that, whenever you are angry, you feel you are the greatest, you feel you are the strongest and no one can put you down, but that's not the case every time. Because sometimes there will be someone mightier and stronger than you who will make you repent for all the anger of yours which people have suffered. Or maybe Another interpretation is that Chuck makes us angry but warns us that it could tear you apart, and also there is always someone stronger than you. But this is just my interpretation and it might be wrong.

I think I pretty much know what it's about,or at least my interpretation is legit enough to make sense.Here it goes.

It's so bad(or good but we know later on its a bad thing),that not even the keeper of dreams,the one who has all possible "imagination",can "imagine" such thing's existence.

Here we know that it's an evil thing.If it could,it would take everything away.Very greedy.Beware from this creature.

And this is where my interpretation kicks in well,contrast to most peoples' one.He is literally saying it's humans.When you hear it,you would thing something loving,and other positive things.However,he is saying that although its an animal,it behaves like a monster.Don't let it near you or else it will tear you apart,do bad to you basically.

We see how evil and greedy it is.It takes everything,feeds in plain sight pretty much.Now is where I believe it's not about a specific human.He is talking about humanity in general.They eat animals,cut down trees and pretty much take everything from nature away.They crush nature and all the spirit/life of it.Hence spirit crusher.

Speaking in killing words

The vicious kind that crush and kill No mercy, its pleasure to taste The blood that it bled.

Going on about how evil it is.Basically humans.Being mean and hurting everyone in words as well.When he says the last bit,I think "taste the blood that it bled" is everything it ruins,makes "bleed" both literally and figuratively.It enjoys it just as humans eat animals.

When it's time to feed to fulfill The need to consume a breath

He will take away from nature more life and consume it.

Some will rise standing tall Breathing out all the breath from The voice of a soul.

Here is where I am kind of lost.I think it means about him and all others that stand up to this cruelty of humans.With the "voice of the soul" they sing about it trying to go against the greed of humans.

Is a "spirit crusher" somebody like a "scavenger of human sorrow"?

this song reminds me of annoying critics who viciously enjoy lambasting and trashing almost everything without creating anything of their own.

nickos 6669, that's a good idea, but Chuck wasn't diagnosed with cancer until midway through 1999, a year after this song was realeased.

Do you not think the lyrics may actually just be fictional, and he is singing about a fictional creature?

"i think it goes about his (fatal) brain tumor" another fuckin dumbass who has no clue what hes talking about. this was in 1998. he was diagnosed in 2000 or 2001. do some research, its not hard idiot.
