Suicide Machine Lyrics
Controlling their lives
Deciding when and how they will die
A victim of someone else's choice
The ones who suffer have no voice
Manipulating destiny
When it comes to living
No one seems to care
But when it comes to wanting out
Those with power
Will be there
Prolong the pain
How long will it last?
Suicide machine
A request to die with dignity
Is that too much to ask?
Suicide machine
How easy it is to deny
The pain
Of someone else's
Suffering
Robbed of natural abilities
In death they now seek tranquility
In a confused state of mind
Extending agony, they must be blind
Manipulating destiny
When it comes to living
No one seems to care
But when it comes to wanting out
Those with power
Will be there
Prolong the pain
How long will it last?
Suicide machine
A request to die with dignity
Is that too much to ask?

what an amazing song. As mentioned this song is about euthanasia but the reason I love this song so much is because it tells how when someone suffers how alone they really are. People can give you assistance but ultimately we are all alone in this world. No one can understand how a person is feeling and thats why mental pain/illness is so debilitating and can lead to suicide due to the sufferer running out of coping resources and not being able to communicate to others and express the agony they are going through and get acknowledge and understanding.
My favoutie lines of the song are:
When it comes to living No one seems to care But when it comes to wanting out Those with power Will be there
Being a sufferer of depression and anxiety these lines really rang home to me. When i tried to talk to and seek help from my family they didn't want to listen or help, I had to make suicide threats in order to get the help I needed and for them to take me seriosuly. It seems sometimes the only way to make others care and take notice is when you've committed suicide and its to late.
It raises a good point, much like "Pull the Plug" from their 1988 album "Leprosy"
Yeah, Chuck said it was about a machine. I'm sure it's Thanatron.
Sorry, I meant the other way around. It looks like he's for euthanasia, saying that it should be the person's choice how he goes out.
"How easy it is to deny the pain of someone else's suffering" That might just be my favorite lyric
in the world.
Probably the best death metal song ever.
The song is about euthanasia, I think it raises a great point.
"Is that too much to ask, suicide ma....CHINE!!" \m/
Schiavo, anyone?
In '89, Dr. Kevorkian made a machine called the Thanatron, which allowed terminally ill patients to easily kill themselves.
Is it just me or does this song seem to change from pro-euthanasia to against euthanasia at different parts of the song?
"Is it just me or does this song seem to change from pro-euthanasia to against euthanasia at different parts of the song?"
It looks to me like it is all anti-euthanasia. I don't see anywhere that it would be for it.
