Kangaroo Lyrics

I first saw you
You had on blue jeans
Your eyes couldn't hide anything
I saw you breathing, oh
I saw you staring out in space
I next saw you
You was at the party
Thought you was a queen
Oh so flirty
I came against
Didn't say excuse
Knew what I was doing
We looked very fine
'Cause we were leaving
Like Saint Joan
Doing a cool jerk
Oh, I want you
Like a kangaroo

"I first saw you You had on blue jeans Your eyes couldn't hide anything"

The lyrics are describing a man's first encounter with a woman he is attracted to. He first sees her wearing blue jeans, and they are struck by her eyes, which seem to reveal her thoughts.

"I saw you leaving And I saw you staring out in space I next saw you, it was at a party"

He saw her leaving and looking off into the distance, possibly lost in her thoughts or daydreaming. He later encountered her at a party.

"Thought you was uncool, oh so flirty I came again You didn't say excuse You knew what I was doing"

He thought she was "uncool" and "flirty," but he was still drawn to her and came to see her again. He noticed that she was aware of his presence but didn't say anything.

"You looked very fine, as we were leaving Like Saint Joan, doing a cool, cool jerk Oh I want you, Oh I want you"

As they were leaving the party, he thought she looked fine and was doing the "cool jerk" dance. The singer expresses his love for her. The woman appears to be compared to Joan Seberg in the lyrics, particularly in reference to her portrayal of St. Joan in the song. This woman might have resembled Joan Seberg.

"Like a kangaroo"

Possibly a reference to the creature's peculiar movement, which represents the singer's intense desire for the woman.

The song is actually about a Girl who is gang raped at party. These albums are all about sexual abuse/murder/destruction, mostly due to drug abuse. They are a warning to those who use hard drugs as they are replete with Voice effect processed lyrics, most set at a certain frequency that can only be heard by people who are on methamphetamine, heroin or fall into of very small category of approximately 1% of the Earth's population, who can hear them without drugs. You can, through the use of the aforementioned drugs, condition your hearing and train your ears to hear the sounds without drugs. Or if you have some high-end stereo equipment you can filter, and hear them quite clearly. Enjoy

@NEMESIS1937 what the hell, please give me more information on how you can hear these 'hidden lyrics'. so interested by this, I had no idea!! i was on garage band trying to change the frequencies which i think would work well but not sure what to set it to. Also tried researching this and couldnt find much!!

@NEMESIS1937 This song is not about a girl who was gang raped. Not sure where you got that. It's originally a Big Star song written by Alex Chilton. Alex is singing about when he met Lesa Aldridge. There was intense chemistry between them. She was being flirty and when he says "I came against. Didn't say excuse. Knew what I was doing" it means he got physically close to her, probably pressing up against her as a way of making a move. He then says "We looked very fine as we were leaving" which means they left together. They dated...

I assume the general comment is a joke. The title of song as written by Alex Chilton (covered here) is Kanga Roo. It's about meeting a girlfriend as stated in a previous reply. When played live he would often do the last line as "like a KangaRoo... or Winnie the Pooh" A reference to Kanga & Roo from Pooh. The song was written after the fact when he knew she liked Pooh. I know many songs about gang rape feature Winnie the Pooh references, but this isn't one of them. The original title was "Like St. Joan". A reference to the actress Joan Seberg (she'd played St Joan in a movie) who the young woman greatly resembled. The Cool Jerk was a dance. Apparently they did the dance at the party. The bumped into part was a way to make sure she noticed him. He didn't say excuse me. How do I know this. I discussed it with the writer one day over lunch. Of course having talked to the man a few times, I bet he gave a different story everytime. He liked making he's songs somewhat vague and mysterious like there was something else going on. We might be over thinking this one. Ever listen to Jeff Buckley's version from the mid 90's? Very cool as well.
