Demon Cleaner Lyrics
I've got the demons in me
I've got to brush them all away
I feel the demons rage
I must clean them all away
Yeah (yeah)
Excite and see my own wraith
Cobwebs in the way
Got magic cleaner
Shiny smile no more gray
Yeah (yeah)
I am the demon
Cleaner who saves the day
I get the back one
Important they'll always stay
Yeah (yeah)
If only one thing that you know
Impostors from the show
They'll try to trick you into
Normal treatment,
Oh don't you listen to them say
Shush them all away
I am the demon cleaner,
Madman saver
I am the the freedom bleedin'
Standing naked here to say
I'm the only way
I've got to brush them all away
I feel the demons rage
I must clean them all away
Cobwebs in the way
Got magic cleaner
Shiny smile no more gray
Cleaner who saves the day
I get the back one
Important they'll always stay
Impostors from the show
They'll try to trick you into
Normal treatment,
Oh don't you listen to them say
Shush them all away
I am the demon cleaner,
Madman saver
I am the the freedom bleedin'
Standing naked here to say
I'm the only way

Apparently, Demon Cleaner is a song about... brushing your teeth. hahahah
Garcia: Nobody knows that "Demon Cleaner" is about brushing your teeth. I didn't write that song; Josh wrote it, and it meant something totally different to me. But when it goes, "You get the back ones..." he's talking about brushing your teeth.
Homme: I have a tooth obsession. I've had everything done to my teeth that you could have done. I used to dream about teeth all the time-I've had nightmares about them since I was a kid, like horrible night terrors. I even went the doctor about it, and that's why I hate going to sleep even to this day. I still always have nightmares. So I'd have this recurring dream where I'm getting my teeth pulled out and then I'd flash forward and I'd be in a giant mouth with these teeth bleeding everywhere. And I'd be cleaning these giant teeth while the blood was coming down and I'd be drowning in a sea of toothbrush foam and blood. So "Demon Cleaner" was this metaphor for, you know, you gotta keep yourself clean, you gotta keep yourself tight.
Sources please.

Just Google a sentence out of the quote he has and you should find the forum that has it (I'm trying to avoid putting a URL here). For instance, I Googled "I have a tooth obsession. I've had everything done to my teeth" and it got me the source. It's from a magazine article in 1993 that some dude transcribed and scanned for a web forum in October 2008. It's all about the making of Return to Sky Valley. Very interesting read!

Hahahaha. Another falls victim to Josh's ridiculous sense of humour, giving answers just to keep the information starved media satisfied. He's still doing this today.

Personally I think the song is about these religious evangelists (read: cult leaders) on TV that claim they have the power to heal. But who knows? Maybe it really is about teeth. I seriously doubt it.

The tooth thing could really be a metaphor for all things like fears and obsession.

Well this could explain the album cover for the 3's & 7's single.

Could this have anything to do with some jesus feelings?
maby his Demons are his 'human' cravings for affection, Physical expression and to commit sin, considering he was both divine and mundane.
While at the same time he had come to unite God's people, and rid the world of 'false' gods, or Demons. he sees himself as a 'Demon Cleaner', warning of the false promises they give you:
''Impostors from the show, They'll try to trick you into, Normal treatment,''
''Oh don't you listen to them say, Shush them all away''
The lyrics sort of reflect his message of ''I am the way, al those who believe will never die'' 'I am the demon cleaner, Madman saver,'
Brill song, whatever it means. Far be it from me to understand the mind of a genius
I think your on the right track, but I think the meaning lies more in the way that society is moving away from the paranormal. In the past, insanity was thought to be possession. The insane were healed by Exorcism. Now things are different. Those who would have previously been thought to be possessed are now termed mentally ill and are given medication in institutions set up for mental illness. Hence: "They'll try to trick you into normal treatment." Yahushua or "Jesus" was the one who intituted the ability to exorcise in his name....

Any healers or holy men able to exorcise the demons do so by the use of HIS name, therefore, HE is the only way; "Madman Slayer." Often those who use drugs notice the paranormal side of things more than the sober physical world. Just an interpretation.
I think It's about avoiding a soon- to -be bad trip
Kyuss is a great, relatively underground band (although they arent together anymore). i reccomend getting a lot of their music... you really get into it.. they use heavy guitar distortion with very cool riffs and drumming. 2 thumbs up.
scott.redder!!!!!!
This song plays on the old "good and evil in all of us" theme. By the way, this song rocks my socks.
what a song!!!!! (and video)
it always reminds me of alcohol as a way to make the demons get away. It cleans your body....in a way.... i mean this is how the song sounds to me. A sort of pro-alcohol song.....very odd view
Well, since the drugs influences are obvious with Kyuss, it could have something to do with a entheogenic plant ayahuasca, known by native Amazonians as "La Purga" - "The Purge" (due to its inducement of nausea and vomiting). Traditional ceremonies are held in which those who eat the plant purge themselves of evil spirits, before being "reborn". Of course, there are many psychotropic plants and substances that are taken in rituals like this (such as peyote), but it's just a thought.
tool have done a cover of this song
