Who put all this
Dirt in my machine?
All I did was
Try to keep it clean

Don't be stupid
Everybody knows
I was only
Straightening my clothes

What do we got (here)?

You saw something
That had not begun
All the time I
Knew the light was on

What do we got (here)?

That meaning would make sense. But I noticed Halford had a just completely odd way off writing lyrics on this album....its hard to figure out what the hell hes talking about half the time

This is the single from Rob Halfords post-fight, pre-halford industrial metal band Two which featured Marilyn Manson guitar player John 5 (known then by his real name, John Lowrey) which was produced by Trent Reznor and one of the first bands on his Nothing label. It was alot darker than anything else Halford has done. I think this song was about Halfords coming out as a homosexual and all the shit he got from the heavy metal community who once embraced him. It's really fucked up how alot of his fans just quit liking him after he admitted he was gay. To tell you the truth I sorta knew he was gay from the start. I mean come on, look at him for christs sake. He bought all that leather from an S&M sex shop in london, and wears a leather hat...lol

    My Interpretation

Im going to brake this down line for line. Keep in mind this is just an interpretation. The way i brake things down is i look at each word and think of its literall meaning, and then i think of how society would use this you will understand. As well as i think we can agree the general theme here is sex.

"Who put all this dirt in my machine"

Ok so "dirt" to some people is "filth". "My machine" some people reffer to their minds or bodys as "a machine" to me hes asking "who put all this filth in my mind"

"All i did was try to keep it clean"

Him reffering to the machine saying he tryed to keep it "clean" or "pure". The way the tense is, states the machine was clean at some point. Just like all coruptted minds they were pure at some point.

"Dont be stupid everybody knows i was only straightening my clothes"

This one is a little more tricky. "Clothes" are somthing we wear to cover ourselves or more importantly portray an image. To me hes saying "dont fool yourself, everybody knows i only put on this apperance" or possibly "dont be stupid everybody knows im only fixing what makes me look wrong"

"You saw somthing that had not begun"

I beleive "you" is the same person who "put dirt in his machine". Or the person who made him start to feel the way he does. They saw somthing in him he was not aware was apart of him. I will reffer to this person as "you".

"All the time i knew the light was on"

This gave me goosebumps when i heard this lyric. It made me think of the people who have sex with the lights on, compared to the people who have sex in the dark. The people who have sex in the dark dont want to see whats happening, or think sex is ugly and they only want to feel. Where as people who have sex with the lights on want to feel and see, being stimulated physically and visually. Now this line could be from his perspective in this sense, "I knew what was happening from the start". Or it could be from "you"s perspective and they are saying "I knew that you were this way the whole time just on a more internal level"

Overall i think this song is about halford realizing he has a darker or more active sexual side then he himself understood. Or like the other commenter, its about his sexuality that he himself is coming to terms with. Great song with great lyrics even if im nowhere close on the depiction :)

He reuses the verse melody from the previous album's "Dirty Little Religion", the topics of the verses are all over the place, and he packs too many words into one line (goes to show...) and too few in another (it's pretty hard to find), and rhymes "Henley Regatta" with "Persona non grata", but gets away with it all as only he could.

Techno Ted
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.
