There Goes The Fear Lyrics
Out of here
We're out of here
Out of heartache
Along with fear
There goes the fear again
There goes the fear
And cars speed fast
Out of here
And life goes past
Again so near
There goes the fear again
There goes the fear
Close your brown eyes
And lay down next to me
Close your eyes, lay down
'Cos there goes the fear
Let it go
You turn around and life's passed you by
You look to ones you love to ask them why
You look to those you love to justify
You turned around and life's passed you by
Passed you by again
And late last night
Makes up her mind
Another fight
left behind
There goes the fear again
Let it go
There goes the fear
Close your brown eyes
And lay down next to me
Close your eyes, lay down
'Cos there goes the fear
Let it go
You turn around and life's passed you by
You look to ones you love to ask them why
you look to those you love to justify, why
you turned around and life's passed you by
Think of me when you're coming down
But don't look back when leaving town
Oh think of me when he's calling out
But don't look back when leaving town
Think of me when you close your eyes
But don't look back when you break all ties
Think of me when you're coming down
But don't look back when leaving town today
There goes the fear again
Let it go
There goes the fear
Let it go
Think of me when you close your eyes
But don't look back when you break all ties
Think of me when you're coming down
But don't look back when leaving town today
We're out of here
Out of heartache
Along with fear
There goes the fear again
There goes the fear
Out of here
And life goes past
Again so near
There goes the fear again
There goes the fear
And lay down next to me
Close your eyes, lay down

You look to those you love to justify
You turned around and life's passed you by
Passed you by again

There goes the fear

Close your eyes, lay down

Have you seen the video? Fck, you get the feeling this guy was doing okay, he was coping, until this very moment when he’s suddenly overcome with fear brought on a by a panic attack. Then he’s bombarded with these chilling flashbacks of a younger hipper version of himself and what we assume was his former pretty girlfriend. It’s so freakin’ scary but omg so painstakingly beautiful at the same time. Perhaps every mid life crisis is triggered off this way. I think the lyrics warn us not to let this happen. The song is very much a mournful cry about growing old and life passing by in a flash, but at the same time it’s also about embracing change and letting go of a youth that is no longer yours. Yes, treasure these memories with all your heart but don’t hold on to them too tightly or they will consume you. Accept the inevitable and grow old graciously.
I think it's about life, and how life tends to pass people by because of fear. I have missed quite a few chances because of fear, so I suppose I can relate to the idea. The way this song builds up is brilliant and very moving!
when i hear this song i think of a couple that is comming up on a big change and the guy knows that there is nothing that he can do about it so he accpets it and lets go of the fear that is holding him, and all he is asking is that she remebers him. not to much to ask in my opinion.
This is very much a song about getting used to being older and/or dying and realizing your youth is gone. The video un-subtly paints this theme, as well.
I just can't tell if "there goes the fear" means he's getting rid of it, or like "here it comes again." ???
I listened to this album alot when my good friend died.
For me it is about how quick life goes by and how soon it's lost.
Just a really poignant song for me and a reminder of a lovely friendship. To Abbo x
I haven't seen the video clip but my interpretation of it for me is that it's about fear of love and intimacy. The relationship breaks down or doesn't begin because of the fear of being close and vulnerable for either or both. I feel it's about the singer knowing about the others fear "close you eyes and lay next to me" there goes the fear, let it go. saying let go, it's ok, it's safe but then the fear kicks in and she gets angry and mad then runs away. Both have the fear. It's the chaser runner dynamic. The singer knows this and is hurt that she ran away. She freaked out when the guy got too close to her and this is a common theme for her and him repeating patterns over and over hence "you turn around and life's passed you by" keep pushing people away as soon as they get close.
Well, the video has this man going on some kind of journey in persuit of this woman he hallucinates about. ::shrugs::
i dunno...but this kinda reminds me of a situation im in...and its a good song...i saw the video on MTV europe...good channel...anyways...awesome song...the girl is leaving...letting her go is the best thing...and then she will come to me
I think it's about having no luck in one town so him and his girlfriend are moving out but as she has lived in the town so long she is apprehensive but he's saying everything will be ok as soon as we leave as this town brings us down.
im in agreeance with some of these comments
this song is a right corker
