The Modern End Lyrics
Camera angles
decadence of a dying world
Matchsticks
Long dark corridors
They've got the urge to die young
Deepbluelettering
Carousels and fireworks
Ferris wheels
are spinning in the arc-lite city
Do they know
They have slept for so long
Do they know
The taste of their tongue
Do they know
They are trapped
Let's celebrate the modern end
Let the world begin again
Celebrate the renaissance man
decadence of a dying world
Matchsticks
Long dark corridors
They've got the urge to die young
Ferris wheels
are spinning in the arc-lite city
Do they know
They have slept for so long
Do they know
The taste of their tongue
Do they know
They are trapped
Let the world begin again
Celebrate the renaissance man

I guess this song is just about how the modern world will eventually come to the end because of our decadence, drop to it's knees, and die. Then "Let the world begin again." Nice soothing song.
We have been taught that the idea of being "modern" is good, yet it encourages us to forget the beauty and history in our past and move forward, and also to throw away the old and create the new, as wasteful as that often is. Perhaps this song suggests this is not the best way to live. I tend to believe that.
