The Nebraska Song Lyrics
Well I came up from Goodland, Kansas
I turned eighteen today
I'm college bound for Lincoln
Nebraska's where I'll stay
It's been my dream all my life
To play football on this field
And if I ever get the chance
I'll make you this deal
I'll work hard I'll do my part
You won't hear me complain
I'll never go down easy
I swear I'll pull my weight
Hey there Mr. Osborne
I'll do anything to play
And it sure would be an honor sir
To call you Coach someday
Here in the middle of the middle west
We ain't afraid to fight
Well I've looked up to you sir
Now I'll look you in the eye
Well I hear something callin me
Like I've never heard before
It's a red and white freight train
And I wanna get on board
I'll work hard I'll do my part
You won't hear me complain
I'll never go down easy
I swear I'll pull my weight
Hey there Mr. Osborne
I'll do anything to play
And it sure would be an honor sir
To call you Coach someday
I came up from Goodland, Kansas
Turned eighteen today
I'm college bound for Lincoln
Nebraska's where I'll stay
I turned eighteen today
I'm college bound for Lincoln
Nebraska's where I'll stay

And if I ever get the chance
I'll make you this deal
You won't hear me complain
I'll never go down easy
I swear I'll pull my weight
I'll do anything to play
And it sure would be an honor sir
To call you Coach someday

"We were asked to perform at the University of Nebraska during their 'Second Title' National Championship Celebration. I was asked to write a song for this event by my good friend Brook Berringer, Quarterback for the Cornhuskers. The song was never heard and the celebration never took place due to Brook's tragic death one day prior to the event. #18 The Nebraska Song was inspired by Brook and is dedicated to his memory." --- Mark Miller of the country band, Sawyer Brown
When Berringer died, it was such a shock and loss in Nebraska that this song continues to this day to bring a tear to the eyes of any loyal fan.
