Measure 3 Lyrics

will we both be happy to stand alone
i can't see forever, where will i go

i'll stop thinking -- i will be ordinary
your laughter kills me
you can't hurt me that won't matter at all

we've stayed together despite our rows
and we're holding back so we won't explode

it's in the stadiums and in the biggest rooms we want to belong
i am mistaken it's in the biggest rooms it all goes wrong

so we know more now than we'll ever know
and we're holding back so we won't explode

This is a great song. I have listened to it many times through my rocky relationship. And I'm sure i will listen to it again if the relationship ends. These guys are very very very good live. Talented musicians.

I agree with vsmtrigger I think it is how the person is ina a relationship and he needs the guidance of his loved one and mabye that being in this realtionship is ruining his life and he dosnt want to stay with her but at the same time he does b/c he feels for the girl.

i'm not sooo sure what this song means, but i think it's about a guy and girl that have been through some tough times in their relationship because they don't want to give it their all.

but what i do know is that the 2 guitars and the chello and all the other strings drive me insane because it's so good!

there is definitely a relationship coming to an end in this song, and i think matt pond is searching for the future for this couple... it seems like they have stayed together for so long just out of fear of breaking up, it feels like one of those relationships that the future is really unclear.. "will they be happy to stand alone?" will they get back together?

i also love the imagery of the "biggest rooms"-- after the lonliness of the separation or the relationship coming to an end, he tries to drown the lonliness or whatever feeling by surrounding himself with people, but everything just goes wrong.

the words and the music in this song are so beautiful. its so short and simple, but definitely one of matt pond's best songs.

I think the song is about a band member and him breaking up. Saying they want fame, big stages, but really that's when things go wrong. At the beginning he says I'll stop thinking, I'll be ordinary. Okay I'll stop dreaming about making it
