this song reminds me of how i was completely stupid over a guy, and yeah, he made me feel like a whore. "yeah i dream of the day when i learn how to make you pay" hahah. :)
He's so caught up with this girl that she makes him feel like a whore, but he still likes it, because she's involved somehow. Complete, unhealthy, but euphoric adoration.
this is such a great song, why aren't there any posts for it? Everclear is my all time favorite band, i love all they're lyrics, i relate to them so well
If you've seen the video (i;ve only seen it once a long time ago and I can't find it anywhere) then you would see this song is about the working world and how we are all selling our lives.
I really want to see the video again, if anyone has it or knows where I can d/l it then help me out.
Great thing about everclear is that their songs have so many meanings. Like Evergleam says, it is in one way about the working world, but i nanother, it could be a standard boy-girl song, and other things to other people. It reminds me kinda of Nirvana... but we all know that everclear is exponentially better than Nirvana ;)
I always pictured this song being about a girl completely using this guy. He realizes what she is doing to him but he is not strong enough on his own so he puts up with it. He needs her to complete him.
I agree with applo up there. I'm a fan of both bands though. It's a matter of opinion anyway. I love this song.
mmm .... out of all the everclear songs this is a hard one. This is what i think though, theres this guy that really likes this girl. He loves to be around her but for some reason he always acts different, not himself (I hate the way I am around you I'm so nervous and weird) Since be cant be with her he goes around trying to find some else just like her so he keeps on switching hence "you make me feel like a whore". He realizes that, hates her for it and there's only so much he can take (There is this place inside where all the good things die) even though he feels like that he cant help liking her a lot ... I see this as a guy (or girl, obviously these two roles can easily be reversed) who's nearing the end of a bad relationship. He knows that she's tearing him apart and he's better without her, but memories of how things used to be won't let him go through with the breakup. He longs for the day when they can again have what they used to have, but maybe she's changed too much to ever be the same.
This is how I am feeling right now towards a certain guy in my life. I will probably listen to this over and over until I'm over it. Love this song, the lyrics...everything. I think you guys nailed the meaning. ;)
