Just wanted to say that I original thought the line went:

... I still kind of like listening to it wishing that was the actual lyric.

no comments on this? well, it's a great song, the guy in the song talking about how he dates this girl, and she said things that she didnt mean, and that he also doesn't really feel anything particular for her, but that he had fun.

I think it means that the girl he's talking to is not just like everyone else who tries to be trendy.
It's you, not just another mouth in the lipstick vogue = you, (with sarcasm) who participate like others who find it fashionable to grow tired of and take for granted one who was thought to be cherished.
I prefer the version on the bonus disc for Armed Forces. The studio version on This Year's Model is just too controlled, it doesn't seem as angry.
