Play That Funky Music, White Boy Lyrics
Once I was a boogie singer
Playing in a rock n' roll band
I never had no problems, yeah
Running down in one night stands
Now everything around me
Got to start to feeling so low
And I decided quickly, yes I did
To disco down and shake out the show
And there was dancing and singing
And movin' to the groovin'
And just when it hit me
Somebody turned around and shouted
"Play that funky music, white boy
Play that funky music right!
Play that funky music, white boy
Lay down in boogie and play that funky music 'til you die!"
So play that funky music baby, play it, play it right
You know we got it going on
We'll funk it up all night
So shake me crazy, honey, you know you really gotta
So play that funky music
Everybody's gonna be alright (Hugh)
At first it wasn't easy
Changing rock n' roll in mind
Things were getting shaky
I thought I'd have to leave it behind
But now it's so much better, it's so much better
I'm funking out in every way
But I'll never lose that feeling, no I won't
Of how I learned my lesson that day
And there was dancing and singing
And movin' to the groovin'
And just when it hit me
Somebody turned around and shouted
"Play that funky music, white boy
Play that funky music right!
Play that funky music, white boy
Lay down in boogie and play that funky music 'til you die!"
So play that funky music baby, play it, play it right
You know we got it going on
We'll funk it up all night
So shake me crazy, honey, you know you really gotta
So play that funky music
Everybody's gonna be alright
Play that funky music (play that funky music)
Play that funky music (play that funky music)
Play that funky music
Yeah, you gotta keep playin' funky music!
Lay down in boogie and play that funky music 'til you die

Wrong. Not KC and the Sunshine Band. This was written and recorded by Wild Cherry. It has nothing to do with George Clinton (Stone Funk Overlord!).
Neither George Clinton nor KC and the Sunshine Band came up with this song. This belonged to Wild Cherry. The song came to them after performing at a wedding where one of the guests literally shouted out "Play some funky music, white boy!"
That influenced the group to come up with what became the group's first and only major hit. At the time, Parliament-Funkadelic was extremely popular, as was George Clinton. So were KC and the Sunshine Band. Wild Cherry figured this out at that wedding when the guests wanted to play funk.
this is a KC and the Sunshine Band song, not george clinton. u make me sad.
