Put Yer Money Where Yer Mouth Is Lyrics
Put yer money where yer mouth is
Yer mamma sez that you was real
Put yer money where yer mouth is
Yer mamma sez that you was real
Ready or not, come what may
The bets are going down for judgement day
So put yer money in yer mouth
And your hands right upon the wheel
Put yer money where yer mouth is
Yer pappa sez that you was real
Put yer money where yer mouth is
Yer pappa sez that you was real
Ready or not, and come what may
You betcha going down on judgement day
So put yer money in yer mouth
And yer hands right upon the wheel
Yer mamma sez that you was real
Put yer money where yer mouth is
Yer mamma sez that you was real
The bets are going down for judgement day
So put yer money in yer mouth
And your hands right upon the wheel
Yer pappa sez that you was real
Put yer money where yer mouth is
Yer pappa sez that you was real
You betcha going down on judgement day
So put yer money in yer mouth
And yer hands right upon the wheel

i laugh hysterically whenever this song comes on my ipod. oasis at their worst is ironically oasis at their best, i can't get enough of it. no idea what the lyrics are about, probably just inane babble
Everyone seems to be saying, "Oh, it's just random lyrics, it was written on drugs and alcohol, bleh bleh bleh."
But allow me to look at it from a point of view to actually give it meaning, aye?
So, let's start.
The song centres around the title lyrics, "Put yer money where yer mouth is." It's in the title, and it's in two verses. Looking at it from a perspective of phrase meanings, the term means, basically, to put actions behind your words; if you say you're going to do something, then do it!
The next phrase is fairly simple, saying, "Yer mamma/pappa said that you was real." This means that other people have expectations of you, and to tie in with the previous line(s), saying that other people have expectations of you, so live up to it by talking the talk and walking the walk.
The verse after the first and third is the same, saying: "Ready or not, come what may. The bets are going down for judgement day, so put yer money in yer mouth and your hands right upon the wheel." What I've gathered from this verse is also simple. The line, "The bets are going down for judgement day," is meaning that you don't have forever to live, gathering terminology from the Biblical judgement day, when people go before God to determine whether they go to Heaven or Hell.
After that, it says, once again, "Put yer money in yer mouth." The next phrase, "And your hands right upon the wheel," may be another way of saying put the shoulder to the wheel. This means, essentially, to work hard to achieve.
So, here's what I gather Noel was trying to tell us here -- if we say we can do something, then do it, and work hard for it, because we don't have forever to do so.
i really dig this song. sure the lyrics are repetitive, but the beat and the groove are just fantastic.
This song means only one thing "cocaine"
Great song.

This song is absolutely fucking amazing. The lyrics suit this type of song so much. Brilliant song.
Random words on a nice tune thought up by an alcohol and cocaine fuelled brain.
