Hey Patty Garrett that's what I used to call you
They tell me you want me but I hear they've got you
They made you a lawman with a badge made of silver
They paid you some money to sell them my blood

But you say, this ain't about me and this ain't about you
Or the good and the bad times we've both been through
When the lines between brothers and justice have changed
You do what you've gotta cause you can't walk away

Wonder what would of have happened if you were the killer and I was the hero
Would things be the same ?
Or would I have traded your life for my own life ?
Would I have paid your debts in your place ?
I don't know

But this ain't about me and this ain't about you
Or the good and the bad times we've both been through
When the lines between brothers and justice have changed
You do what you've gotta cause you can't walk away

Blood money, that's what I call it
'Cause money for blood ain't no fair exchange
Blood money
Bought and then sold you
But your conscience is all you can take to your grave

This might be my favorite Bon Jovi song (that's really saying something.) The first time I heard the lines Through the years and miles between us It's been a long and lonely ride But if I got a call in the dead of the night I'd be right by your side I got shivers. They should do this more often in concert.

the first time i heard this song i cried. i love how the bond they have is so tight. even if they arent so close anymore they will still do anything for oneanother and that is something special.

It's all about my friends Bill and Andy. We are not as close as we might seem, but we are the closet. This song rocks and this site rocks for letting me write about this sweet song.

This is plain and simple a song about three best friends growing up and remaining close. A bond so strong it can't be broken, no matter how far apart they are. Danny and Bobby are both real friends of Jon Bon Jovi also. However whenever asked about the song he and/or the Q&A staff at BonJovi.com say that the actual events may or may not have happened. Poetic license.

This is a great son about mateship. The line 'If I got that call in the middle of the night I'd be right by your side' is one of the most powerful ever written

a bon jovi song cant get much better than this one. it sums friendship up completely. I think i remember Jon saying this song is based on the movie 'stand by me'. Through the years and miles between us It's been a long and lonely ride But if I got a call in the dead of the night I'd be right by your side best lyrics of the song!

Over a year and no new comments :-( I know it's not one of their most popular songs (which is too bad) but it is one of their best and I figured more people would have comments about it.
