Big Screen Tv Lyrics
big screen television
say no more
switch it on and i'll see you in hell
we got the good seats
just look at the smiles on our faces
right now
right now
we are the luckiest people in the whole wide world
whole wide world
whole wide world
big screen tv
in a glass house
wanna lay down next to you and sleep
but are you dreaming?
are you dreaming?
are you dreaming?
are you dreaming?
look at you tracing circles in the grass
getting bigger and bigger and over and out
we're almost ready to leave
to follow the weather and go where the colour goes
send a message to the birds that sing in the trees
always awake before me and always louder than tv
say no more
switch it on and i'll see you in hell
just look at the smiles on our faces
right now
right now
we are the luckiest people in the whole wide world
whole wide world
whole wide world
in a glass house
wanna lay down next to you and sleep
but are you dreaming?
are you dreaming?
are you dreaming?
are you dreaming?
getting bigger and bigger and over and out
we're almost ready to leave
to follow the weather and go where the colour goes
send a message to the birds that sing in the trees
always awake before me and always louder than tv

hmmm... it's so much easier to get the feel of a song from listening to it than reading it's lyrics without music. but as i listened this album to death and still put it on at least weekly i'll have a go. I have always thought that this was speaking against the media and what todays society sees as immportant: big screen televisions, front row seats... It sounds like somebody is not entirely convinced of the importance of these things (one can assume the somebody is paul dempsy) the birds are still louder, the weather the colour the dreams ... these things are real.
never believe anything you see on tv. also with all the crap that is on tv these days it just makes it worse to see it enlarged
its about television consuming our lives. we spend so many hours in front of it, we care for it deeply (wanna lay down next to you and sleep). it is everywhere in our lives But it isn't as beautiful as the outside world (send a message to the birds... louder than tv)
i like the sarcasm in this song as well "we got the good seats just look at the smiles on our faces"
i think paul turns into gabriel byrne for that one line...
