Captain, (Million Miles An Hour) Lyrics

i built an aeroplane
it was just like the real ones that i saw when i was younger
but it was too small for me
to crawl inside the cockpit and fly away
at a million miles an hour
at a million miles an hour
at a million miles an hour
at a million miles an hour

and it took me years
underneath the house we lived in
i threw my head and my heart in the cockpit
the sounds of the engines
the voices from upstairs i only heard my crew
preparing me for take off
preparing me for take off
preparing me for take off
preparing me for take off
preparing me
preparing me

and it's just a model
built with plastic and with glue
but every day i go down to the airport
and i fly away from
i fly away from you
i fly away from you

Dempsey loves aircraft.

how a kid think when they are young but also about how sometimes you just want to the get the hell out of things sometimes but the "cockpit is too small for me" so you just have to face life

i also believe this is dempseys way of having a go at the aeroplane companies for making the seats too close together

i agree with the above comment that it is a look at the innocence of children, how they have such big plans, and schemes, they can escape into their own world of imagination and create such things like aeroplanes. The dream of the aeroplane obviously develops into something more as he gets older, he didnt realize his dream of flying an airplane but still likes to go to the airport and escape his life and imagine he is a pilot.

I think this song is about longing for something you can't get. Also about how children dream and imagine things. I love this song!

I would have to agree with irdonnelly and his second point that aircraft seats are far too close, he express his feelings about this as the song kicks in as one would do when angry about the person in front pushing their seat back

This song reminds me of getting away from something or some situation i have put myself in. But whatever I do, it wont go away so i fly myself away from it in some imaginary way.

..Song's got to be about escapism. Dempsey has a unique metaphor for eveything and this one is great.

Love the comment about the seats being too close. That's probably where he came up with it, flying somewhere. He is a massive bastard after all! Lets buy him a private jet like kanye!
