I think the song is just in the perspective of someone convincing a close friend/lover or people not to commit suicide, almost in a mocking tone.

-this stanza sounds sarcastic. When someone performs a swan song, it's usually their last hoorah and it's supposed to be magnificent and inspirational. This person thinks killing his/her self will open peoples eyes. Obviously he thinks it's stupid.
