The She Lyrics

Ripped off
You smoked the Bible
Rolled it up
Your last breath
Hot on my back
You get started
Try to get somewhere
You move so slow
You're not even here

Dear traveller

It's my death
My rhythm
My arithmetic
I got used to
Nobody ridin in the back

Sorrow blowin through the veins
I'm over Houston
You're over the night we met

Dear traveller

The she
Scared electricity
Where no human
Carries a map
You say you gotta burn to shine
But every prism unwinds
A road to ruin
And this tickets mine

Dear traveller

One of my favorite Breeders songs. I think it's about drug use, in general. Like with the first few lines, I remember using Bible pages to smoke weed in a bind. Then I think it sort of verges into heroin use, or something being injected. "You say you gotta burn to shine" is especially impactful, kind of suggesting that some people may feel like you need to use drugs to be "real" or recognized, especially in the music industry, or when induced into any kind of fame.

My Interpretation

@cowboykidzbop Yep. And bibles are usually found in hotel rooms while touring the country.

Kim wrote this song about Kelley back when Kelley was allegedly using heroin. Kim was extremely worried.

"You're over the night we met"-when they were born as twins. "Scared electricity"-Electricity is very powerful and scary. Kelley was actually a lot scarier during that time and Kim didn't know what to expect from her. like lightning.

@spacewoman wow i didnt know about this. makes a lot of sense, thanks
