Sunday Lyrics

Nothing remains
We could run when the rain slows
Look for the cars or signs of life
Where the heat goes
Look for the drifters
We should crawl under the bracken
Look for the shafts of light on the road
Where the heat goes

Everything has changed
For in truth, it's the beginning of nothing
And nothing has changed
Everything has changed
For in truth, it's the beginning of an end
And nothing has changed
And everything has changed

(first voice)
In your fear
Of what we have become
Take to the fire
Now we must burn
All that we are
Rise together
Through these clouds
As on wings

(2nd voice)
In your fear, seek only peace
In you fear, seek only love
In your fear, seek only peace
In you fear, seek only love
In your fear, in your fear
As on wings

This is the trip
And this is the business we take
This is our number
All my trials, Lord
Will be remembered
Everything has changed

Cover art for Sunday lyrics by David Bowie

If you listen to the full album it's more about the journey through life, first being enamoured with God and life and being born.

The fact it's like a Gregorian chant is more of a reference to its lofty "religious" hymn.

As for 9/11 - I think that's a bag of cack but people can believe what they like in the end.

Whether it was intended to be about 9/11 or not; it still fits.

I read an interview around the time Heathen came out, Bowie said that this song, and A Better Future, were both written and recorded before 9-11, but he understands why a lot of people would draw the comparisons.

This song is one of my faves, ever. I don't like comparing it to 9/11 though, it was made long before that.

this song - was in fact - written before 9/11 which creates so much beauty for the song in itself. most of heathen was already written pre-9/11. reality, however, is more about that, but the message of that album, i believe, is saying to not to "look at that scar."

i think this album is generally about our future and how humanity has progressed throughout time.

I don't see how you could look at that album art and see anything but religious intent. It is all done with a reason, yeah? Its fucking Bowie

this song always gives me chills. heathen is one of my favourite david bowie albums because of songs like this, he really broke through with this one. whenever i hear it i always think of a few people left over from an apocalypse type situation looking for more survivors. [everything has changed, in your fear seek only peace/love, ect] the last line sends shivers down my spine

I don't know, Koncorde, Bowie was definitely affected by 9/11 (he lives in New York for at least part of the year), and I've read an interview in which he parallels the fear of terrorism post-2001 being similar to the Cuban Missile crisis. And we all know Bowie loves him some apocalyptic paranoia.

I think this song could be titled 9/11 It sounds like what happend on that day. The first verse sounds like an average NYC citizen and the last lyric sounds like the terrorists about to destroy the towers. Bowie Claims that he worte it befor 9/11. Does he have pshyic abilitys?
