American girls and American guys
We'll always stand up and salute
We'll always recognize
When we see Old Glory flying
There's a lot of men dead
So we can sleep in peace at night when we lay down our head

My daddy served in the army
Where he lost his right eye but he flew a flag out in our yard
'Til the day that he died
He wanted my mother, my brother, my sister and me
To grow up and live happy
In the land of the free

Now this nation that I love has fallen under attack
A mighty sucker punch came flyin' in from somewhere in the back
Soon as we could see clearly
Through our big black eye
Man, we lit up your world
Like the fourth of July

Hey Uncle Sam, put your name at the top of his list
And the Statue of Liberty started shakin' her fist
And the eagle will fly man, it's gonna be hell
When you hear mother freedom start ringin' her bell
And it feels like the whole wide world is raining down on you
Oh, brought to you courtesy of the red white and blue

Oh, and justice will be served and the battle will rage
This big dog will fight when you rattle his cage
And you'll be sorry that you messed with
The U.S. of A.
'Cause we'll put a boot in your ass
It's the American way

Hey Uncle Sam, put your name at the top of his list
And the Statue of Liberty started shakin' her fist
And the eagle will fly it's gonna be hell
When you hear mother freedom start ringin' her bell
And it'll feel like the whole wide world is raining down on you
Oh, brought to you courtesy of the red white and blue

Oh-oh, of the red, white and blue
Oh-oh, of my red, white and blue

well crazychica, the point of this website is for people to express their opinions. if i think you're an idiotic, illiterate piece of trash, that's an opinion... no? quite honestly, i don't think anyone would care if ANY one person who uses this website to post their opinions left at any time, yourself included. think about it. really, you don't seem to put much thought into the things you say. and whoah whoah whoah. since when have my insults been directed at anyone other than you. the only other person here i ever insulted was starfish, and i stopped that long ago. if you could care less what i say, why do you feel the need to defend yourself? hmm? i thought you "found yourself skipping most of my posts". by all means, skip, skip. spare us from your idiotic, uneducated banter. i never asked you to repeat your opinion, and yes you DID talk about the topic, as did i at one point. but you've since strayed, so to accuse me of misusing the site is extrememly hypocritical. and for the third or fourth time, i did post my opinions on sept 11 etc above. feel free to hold a discussion with me at any time about my opinions. the only thing you've done so far is tell me i'm an asshole for insulting me, and then turn around and do the very thing you're accusing me of. "you judge me and now you are me" if you had any sense at all, you would see that my hooked on phonics jab was actually a sort of attack on starfish. i was making a mockery of her insult in a way. it had nothing to do with your opinions in any way. but i guess that one went right over your bloated head. and it's not that what i say is amusing. it's your responses that i find amusing. and that's reason enough for me to continue the argument. if i cared whether or not other people found my posts amusing, i would have stopped long ago. i never insulted you for your opinions. i don't know where you got that delusional idea in your head. think back. and if you believe so strongly that this site is for bouncing ideas and not arguing, put your money where your mouth is. you've done nothing but go against your stated morals so far. haha and you want to talk IQ? this coming from someone who actually believes that typn lik tis savs tim. truly shocking.

and Argg, the reason we didn't bomb anybody in america for columbine is because the only two people who were responsible for the act killed themselves. it's not as though there was some christian militia with a thousand members who planned and funded the whole operation. that's the difference.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Cajun Girl

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
