Everyday People Lyrics
Sometimes I'm right, I can be wrong.
My own beliefs are in my song.
A butcher, a banker, a drummer, and then
makes no difference what group I'm in.
I am everyday people! (yeah yeah)
There is a blue one who can't accept the green one
for living with the black one trying to be a skinny one
Different strokes, for different folks!
And so on, and so on, and scooby-dooby-doo. (oooh, sha sha!)
We've got to live together!
I am no better, and neither are you.
We are the same whatever we do.
You love me, you hate me, you know me and then,
you can't figure out the bag I'm in.
I am everyday people! (yeah yeah)
There is a long hair who doesn't like the short hair
for being such a rich one that will not help the poor one.
Different strokes, for different folks!
And so on, and so on, and scooby-dooby-doo. (oooh, sha sha!)
We got to live together!
There is a yellow one who won't accept the black one
who won't accept the red one who won't accept the white one.
Different strokes, for different folks!
And so on, and so on, and scooby-dooby-doo. (oooh, sha sha!)

The Family Stone were all about peace and co-existence. The song's message is clear: we're all one race and it's futile to love one person and have complete disdain for another.
"There is a yellow one that won't accept the black one That won't accept the red one that won't accept the white one"
The nature of racism is cyclical.
Brilliant music and still relevant.
People got to live like they are everyday people again.
This song is where the phrase 'different strokes...' actually came from, apparantly.
Brilliant track.
I live my life by this song.
Would that EVERYBODY lived their life by it. It would be a much better world.
Would that EVERYBODY lived their life by it. It would be a much better world.
it's "i AM everyday people"
this was released at the height of the Veitnam War and the Civil rights movement in the late 1960's.
served as a social reminder that even tho people seem quite different, we are still very much the same.
It's a great song.
It's a great song.
Thanks, I'll try to make the correction. Bringing up the lyrics correction page is painfully slow in my browser.
I'm submitting some of these lyrics just so they get in the database - Sly wasn't even in the database before this song!
