Popsicle Lyrics

Lama lama la nah
lama la nah
lama lama la nah

Mouth to mouth reach up down the part
and drop to drop, drop now count down the hop
You see we see you must have the key
So eat your
Popsicle

beep beep

Pow the wow and take half the cow
yoo-hoo yay-hay play the game May
and talk to me dont show the county
i see your magical
take one for the money and two for blow
and three all together now here we go
get physical, its typical
take a sidewalk drink from a double dutchman
wake up to the sunshine
wake up with the rain
you got what you want now

come and eat your
popsicle
cuz its so
edible
come on kids we're having a ball
just lickin' our
popsicle

beep beep

Pound the round jam up the count down
and melt the town with the sound
you see we see you must have the key
cuz we are magical
take one for the money and two for the blow
and 3 all together now here we go

wake up with the rain
you got what you want now

come on and eat your
popsicle
cuz its so
magical
come on and eat your
popsicle
cuz its so
edible
come on kids we're having a ball
just lickin' our
popsicle

Do any of their songs have much of a meaning?

I think this song is about the fun we had as children, totally careless. It's full of alot of silly but fun to say ryhmes and they mention double-dutch, which is jump roping with two ropes in there.

And this could be wrong but I think the popsicle represents how fleeting those times are, growing up and all, because popsicles melt and the such.

I couldn't agree more!

I thought i'd just like to add, that there are references to childhood games all over the place in this song, not just jump roping.

"and drop to drop, drop count down the hop" That one is talking about hop-scotch

"You see we see you must have the key " I think this is talking about this game I used to play in my elementary school music class. One person would close their eyes and the rest of the class would hide a key in the room. Then while the other person was looking, the calss would sing this wacky song over and over again, and sing louded as they got closer. So that fits best, because they are relying on the calss to help them find the key. You see wee see.

it seems kind of sexual to me

Yea this song deffinately has adult references to it. I like the idea of what you guys said, but "take one for the money, and two for the blow" come on now. let us not be nieve that could be sex or drugs.

Maybe that we were so content as childern, and as adults we resort to drugs and sex and all that is impure (not that sex can't be pure) for our more mature arousal level. I saw these guys last night on halloween with Bishop Allen.

could be wrong but it sounds like it's about oral sex

how could this song be about anything OTHER than oral sex? "take a sidewalk drink from a double dutchman" just SOUNDS dirty.

This song is magical. It's so childish and yet, it's so adult. I think we can all agree that the song itself is a transition of growing up. You have the anyomunous hummimg at the beginning, which is stopped by a "beep beep". I find that the use of the word "beep beep" is kind of a warning. As though to say, it's not going to last... more later...
