I think this song is about religion, or spirituality, and how one must question that sort of thing first before becoming too obsessed.
its a theme several of noel's songs touch on - the brotherhood of man, the need to show faith in yourself and the world around you rather than reaching for far flung solutions or quick fire solutions. Really really good song.
