(As Long As They've Got) Cigarettes In Hell Lyrics
Cheers - I've updated it now :)
This song was a b-side on the Go Let It Out single. Well worth buying as it also has the awesome and beautiful Let's All Make Believe on it.
This song is one of the most relaxing and hazy songs I've ever heard. It almost puts you to sleep when you listen to it. Noel sings fabulously on this song and this song is basically about not giving a shit what people say or what bad things may happen and just live your life the best you can despite those things. The chorus is almost a metaphor for life in that he's almost expecting the bad things to come along with the good times and to deal with it.
erinonanescalator I think that might have been one of the reasons they chose those lyrics. They knew some people might tut and not like their choice of words. But they don't give a damn, that's one of the reasons why I love this song it's just saying screw you, screw life just get me a cigarette.
Sorry about that question mark in the first verse, I've listened loads of times but can't for the life of me figure out what that word is.
I believe it's "bag o' bones" in the first verse. So...
And trying to keep that bag of bones in trim
I love this song! It sounds like dear prudence (surprise, surprise) but what's even better is the fact that this is exactly the christian's worst song to listen to by oasis. I mean, I get a good laugh when I hear the chorus "I don't mind not going to heaven as long as they've got cigarettes in hell" fucking brilliant.
Oh, and it's 'table hopping' not hogging. Cheers.
Great B-side, on which single can it be found?
Mega song...one of noels best vocals. so hazy and makes you feel like you dont give a shit. although i think its having a go at how shallow, life can be. He doesn't care if he goes to hell for not caring or fitting in to society...as long as he can smoke that is!!
This is in my top 5 Oasis songs, and this is coming from a guy with ALL the singles and 40+ complete bootlegs. Brilliant vocals, outstanding production, and in my opinion some of Noel's very best lyrics.
